"That's right, sir." She cringed internally at the sound of her real name. "I was just wondering what exactly you were doing about this evil. If you don't mind me asking. It's easy to say 'we must cleanse the world' but if you're not part of the solution then you're not really doing much good, are you?"

"You're entirely right, just talking about it isn't going to do anyone any good, we have to act if we want to actually want to make a difference in this world," he agreed looking down at her, "you know I don't often do this, but would you like to see what we're doing to fight the great evil? Normally guests stay up front, but I think you understand what we're trying to do here."

Topaz's adventures in India get a little out of control when she stumbles into a fanatical church that's much darker than it seems on the surface.

Plot Summary

Topaz calls Amanda for her weekly check in, and admits that she hasn't quite been staying out of trouble in India. She tells Amanda that girls have been disappearing in the area, and that she suspects a local church has something to do with it. Amanda agrees to bring a team and check it out, and tells Topaz to stay away from the church until they get there.

Topaz has other ideas, however, and ends up going back to the church where she confronts the priest, Aadesh Saini, pretending to be interested in the church's goal of "purifying the world." Saini seems to believe her, and brings her down to the basement to show her the four girls they currently have hostage. While Topaz is distracted by this discovery, Saini knocks her out. X-Force, meanwhile, has arrived in India and is trying to figure out a plan while Amanda tries to get a hold of Topaz, with no luck.

A few hours later, Topaz wakes up in a cell across from the scared girls (who are very obviously not witches), and assures them that she has friends on the way who can help. She breaks out of the cell and promises to come back for them. She tries to get out of the church to find Amanda, but is stopped by Saini and his congregation, who manage to fight her down and knock her out once more. This time when she wakes up, she's tied to a stake and about to be burned alive.

X-Force shows up not long after the fire starts, and Wade gets her down from the stake while everyone else fights back the congregation and Amanda goes after Saini. She knocks him out, and his empathic hold on the congregation is broken, leaving everyone scared and confused.

Amanda helps Topaz back to the hostel she's been staying at, and the two of them talk over first-aid. Topaz finally admits that while she's been in India she's been doing research to find out more about herself, and she believes Saini might be her birth father. She also says she's finally done with India and ready to go back to the US - and the mansion.

Plotrunner: Sam

Sam wrote this plot a year and a half before running it, after watching and being inspired by the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode Gingerbread. Mostly she wanted to set her character on fire.
