Featured Article: Moment of Awesome - Clint Barton/Hawkeye: When he walks in on the Guthrie boys fighting, Clint steps in. Clint had knocked before he opened the door. Twice. It wasn't his fault Guthrie the Second was yelling so loud neither he nor Sam could hear it. So Clint frowned and opened the door, only to see Jay grappling Sam on the couch. Sam wasn't fighting back, from what Clint could see -- his body language was all wrong for that -- but given the microexpressions he was picking up from the younger Guthrie, he knew that one was about to make some life choices that Clint definitely didn't agree with or support. Nevermind that both of them would probably tell him it was a family matter and he should stay out of it. Calling violence 'domestic' didn't make it any better or prettier or more tolerable. Without conscious thought, Clint read the angles in the room, the trajectory and velocity of Jay's movements, and for just a moment it was like the world slowed down as he let his mutation calculate all the steps, leaps, and movements he'd need to complete in what order at what speed to put an end to what was going on before it could get worse. Then his brain clicked all the appropriate equations and answers into place and Clint set himself in motion. Taking one step and then a leap to clear more distance, Clint braced his arm on the kitchenette's island countertop and vaulted himself over it and the chairs on the other side that made the island into an eating area. Next he parkoured over the side chair and table, perfectly avoiding the lamp, and landed right between the couch and the coffee table. He gripped Jay's wrist where it clutched at Sam's shirt hard enough to make his fingers release without actually injuring the teen, then gripped him by the back of his neck even as he braced himself and thrust the coffee table backward so he'd have space for what came next. Clint used his grip on Jay's wrist and his neck to forcefully lift him off of Sam, avoided the young man's wings, and had him on his front on the ground with one knee pressed into his lower back. Because of all the jostling, one of the pillows had fallen to the ground before Clint's entrance, so Jay's face was twisted sideways on that and the archer made sure that, despite their flapping, the younger Guthrie wasn't doing himself any harm. "I dunno what you were yelling about, but I'm gonna tell you right now -- you don't lay hands on your brother unless you're sparring while being observed. I get your whole 'sibling' schtick. I've got two brothers. But there's that and then whatever the hell I just walked into. Do you understand?" Trying to twist out of Clint's grip was instinctual, and opposed to the clear talent and experience behind what Clint was doing. Jay's hand loosened on Sam's shirt due to Clint's grip on him. He couldn't hit at Clint to let go of him with his hands, but he had two other limbs, but it was wild, trapped animal panic at being held down by something he couldn't see more than anything else. Of a hand on his neck. How dare this man who didn't know them, knew nothing about the two of them step in and try to get in the middle of a family spat- lay his hands on him, even! He wasn't gonna be pinned down and take this, he wasn't going to take bein' kept still and captive. (His skull hitting the pavement, the glint of a gun, the anger and grief...) "Git offa me-!" But then, the hands on his wrist and neck weren't there to harm. Even the knee on his back was shy of his oil gland. This was more like someone stepping in to stop an assault than trying to get anyone hurt. Jay had the realization that maybe Sam had been telling the whole truth about Clint being one of them superhero types. And not just because of how casually he had restrained him either- and Jay'd never heard of someone stopping a fight so cleanly. But he's stepped in because he must have thought Jay would seriously hurt Sam. Today in XProject: April 25 PHASE 1 2004: Logan learns a little about his own past, courtesy of Shiro. 2005: Amanda talks to Alison about Meggan and the decision is made to ask Margali to adopt her. Hellfire and Damnation: Alison also tells her about Pete joining the Hellfire Club and Amanda calls Romany Wisdom for reassurance. Meggan's medical discloses she is actually between 12 and 15 years old. Kitty gets her pre-registration packet for NYU and celebrates by taking people out for cake. Remy and Jubilee talk about his past. 2006: Law and Order: Westchester: Laurie Collins’ mother contacts Professor Xavier after a riot at the local high school. Operation: Opening Salvo: Betsy and Remy locate two of Romany’s kidnappers. April 2007: Garrison receives a letter from Heather Hudson, indicating Forge has been invited to meet with the Canadian government about Garrison's neural chip. Lorna announces her graduation ceremony. Remy emails Doug asking him to hack into Swiss bank accounts belonging into a number of shell companies related to Joe MacTaggart and Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker. Yvette meets Monet and is confused. Turf War: Angelo and Amanda discuss what they've learned so far, and come up with a plan; Angelo calls the X-Men in to use their connections with the LAPD; Ororo arranges for a small team of X-Men to go to LA. Tabitha is disconcerted by Medusa's sentient hair. Crystal and Forge talk after he inadvertently insults the Amaquelins and he manages to make things worse. Following Illyana's talk of demons on the journals, Marie follows through with her threat and brings her two younger students with nightmares to comfort at 3 AM. 2008: Jean goes to talk to Christopher Summers about the previous day's incident and advises him to go to Alaska for a time. Operation: Take A Bow: With another flashback, Mark is back at work and gives Jay advice on the bartending. 2009: X-Men Mission: Eric The Red: Arriving in Madripoor, the X-Men meet with Christopher Summers' contact and find out that a team of mutants may also be looking for the missing ship and its crew; the X-Men find and start evacuating the ship, but opposition arrives in the form of the Imperial Guard; after a short battle, the X-Men manage to escape with the crew, but the implications of India working with Indonesian mutant child traffickers are far-reaching. Kurt finds Doreen trying to call her father and getting more and more upset; Kurt alerts the staff to the situation with Dori. Manuel and Valentia encounter Adrienne at Boiler Beach and there is talk of preferred 'types' to date. Jay remembers a recording session with Terry and goes to talk to her, both discovering they have nothing to really talk about any more. Doreen talks about her literature project with Jean-Paul and he suggests using Monkey Joe as inspiration. 2010: Lakshmibai Raj: X-Force infiiltrates New Delhi, intent on assassinating D. Ken; Remy, Sarah, Wanda and Amanda go in by helicopter, with Remy kicking Amanda out above New Delhi and hoping her powers catch her, before crashing the helicopter onto the lawn of the Secretariat Building and creating a large diversion; Wanda takes on the guards while Amanda, merged with New Delhi, takes on Gladiator and Remy and Sarah head for D. Ken's office; Jubilee, Sofia and Doug sneak in the back way of the Secretariat Building; Marie-Ange, Bishop and Vanessa go in the side way; the two teams meet and separate again; Marie-Ange, Doug and Sofia secure the sitution room, to avoid India's nuclear arsenal being implemented; Jubilee and Bishop help Vanessa rescue Lilandra; Remy and Marrow fight off Commando and a squad of guards in the halls; Wanda has a tough time with Oracle while Amanda enjoys beating up Gladiator far too much; Doug, Sofia and Marie-Ange have a stand off with Nightside and Manta; Zenith and Electron intercept Lilandra, but come off the worst of Jubilee and Bishop; Remy and Sarah reach D. Ken and find he is utterly insane, using the crystalised brain of his mutant father to psionically freeze the would-be assassins; the hold is broken by Amanda hurling Gladiator through the wall and Gladiator seeing the insanity of his leader; Sarah smashes the M. Corn Crystal and Gladiator walks out, leaving D. Ken defenceless; Remy kills D. Ken. Kevin and Jean-Paul talk about the mission on the way home and go on to distract each other; Jean-Paul enlists Vanessa to help keep him awake and she is amused at his new relationship. 2011: A Bar In Amsterdam: The hunt for Warren's photos leads to a circus where Kurt performs to gain the circus folk's trust, only to discover that the woman they're looking for might now be in Amsterdam. Warren sms's Wade, asking for a souvenir. Warren sms's Crystal, letting her know that they'll be arriving in Attilan later than planned and Vanessa about hating the circus. Marie-Ange prompts a long journal thread started through the discussion of the wine Wade gave her. 2012: Sooraya reveals that she is going to Empire State University next year and is involved in an Elpis project. Layla, Maddie and Sarah V. arrange to meet in "The fortress of Awesome", with Snacks! Wade posts an ad about a car and admits it made him want to fly to Seattle to buy it. Meggan goes to Korvus for moral support when opening her acceptance letters to discover she got into Empire State as well. 2013: Callie emails Lorna about a project on growing a garden and asks Lorna for any requests. Frank and Clint give up on Math and start playing games. Frank and Matt meet, discuss Matt’s addiction and eventually agree to practice self-defence together. 2014: Angel and Garrison decide to do a Danger Room run and end up cursing Scott’s name a few times. PHASE 2 2015: Matt and Wade do a kata together in the gym without speaking. Clarice and Clint meet in the kitchen. Laurie texts Doug asking what to wear to a clothing optional Hellfire Club meeting. Warren messages Sue about her plans for Star Wars day. Wade leaves Kyle a VW Bug in his living room. Kyle posts about the car in his living room. Clint delivers equipment to the two Spider-Men, as agreed on. 2016: Jean-Paul finally catches up with Topaz. 2017: Rogue texts Logan to apologize about dinner. 2018: Jubilee posts to point out she is innocent and delightful, nobody buys it. 2019: Gabriel wonders if there are any good churches anywhere. 2020: Wanda posts that it has been brought to her attention that she has too many books and other items by someone who ‘shall not be named’ who got buried by them. 2021: 2022: Clint emails Alani about taking Wormhole shifts. While trying to get information from the city office, Quentin and Hope A. discover a conspiracy to force mutants out of their homes. 2023:
