Moment of Awesome - Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch: After an awkward encounter, Wanda and former schoolmate Everett Thomas talk things out like adults.

The smile she gave him was very real but also - a little sad. "I know the feeling." Wanda's own conflicted feelings were slightly more well known to her, hence the look on her face. "Ah, I should be off to the gym now, I suppose..."

"You know how I feel," he said to her, catching her gaze before she turned to leave. Though her poker face was failing, he poured the full force of his will to maintain his. "And I know you don't feel the same, quite. I'm okay with that, really."

At his words, Wanda paused and nearly blurted out 'Do I?' but stopped herself. Because if she was being honest with herself, she'd known for some time. Clutching her gym towel between her hands, she studied him and decided to be honest with both of them.

"Clint was a fun diversion," she said slowly. "You would be something else entirely. Trust me when I say that I am ever so tempted to see where that something else takes us but..." Wanda ran a hand over her face and all the walls came down. What they left behind was how exhausted she felt every day. "It seems every day something new comes at us and it's only a matter of time before..."

She shrugged. "Before the inevitable. And I think that figuring out that 'something else entirely' with you will make that harder to bear."

"I understand that. Really, I do." One does not spend their career in espionage without coming to that same conclusion. "But I had to tell you. In the interest on honesty and all that. We risk short lives, so there's no time for innuendo or holding back the truth." He shrugged. "Not throwing away my shot."

"So we're being actual adults about this? And you're quoting Hamilton at me?" Wanda was amused and relieved. The thought of potentially losing his friendship had been a tough one.

"You want me to do Guns & Ships, too? Because I can do a mean Lafayette." The banter was much more comfortable than emotional candor, and he gleefully slid right back to that. "The only thing I don't have for it is the hair, though."

"That's because you're a quitter. You could rock the Lafayette hair if you really tried." The tired, sad feeling was easy now to keep out of her voice. Wanda had had far too much practice at keeping that hidden these days.

"You don't get a dome this smooth and shiny by being a quitter," he countered, rubbing his bald head, and the emotional walls were now fully back in place. "Enjoy your workout, Wanda, I'll catch you later."
