  Notices and Updates - February 11, 2010

X-Project is looking for a few people to adopt our orphans!

From original founding members Cyclops and Phoenix to newer characters such as Icarus and Anole, we have a wide range of available characters just waiting for you to pick them up!

As usual, if you have any questions/inquiries/etc, feel free to contact the mods.

*What is X-Project?

X-Project is an X-Men movieverse RPG on Livejournal. Set after X2, we've been running since May 2003 and use a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. There's a number of settings for a range of play, whatever your preference, and we particularly encourage people to adopt one of our orphans.

We also highly encourage readers - if you're looking for X-Men based entertainment, X-Project welcomes you to read along and enjoy the ride! Wanted especially are players for our orphaned X-Men players. From founding members Cyclops and Phoenix, to veterans like Colossus, Jetstream and Banshee, to newer recruits such as Havok and Roulette, we have X-Men galore!

As X-Project began at X2, X-Men 3: The Last Stand doesn't exist in game terms. There is no Cure, no Phoenix, and Scott Summers, Jean Grey and Charles Xavier are all very much alive.

The recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie is also not considered part of X-Project canon, as it contains elements that directly contradict game history and established character canon. Future Origins movies are assumed to do the same, and will also not count. If you're wondering about how characters differ from their movie versions, we recommend reading their Wiki pages.

Applications based on non-canon movie versions (i.e., characters from X3 or X-Men: Origins) will have to be adapted to accomodate game canon.

The game interaction takes place using posts on a real-time in-game journal system, as well as off-journal narrative logs. There is something for everyone in X-Project, whether a fan of the comics, movies, or just someone with a passing interest in exciting interaction. The game balances the intense world of the X-Men's activities with the interpersonal relationships formed by having a team of mutant activists operating in conjunction with a school for young mutants learning to control their abilities.

Most of all, X-Project is a chance for both participants and readers to enjoy innovative and cooperative storytelling in an ever-changing setting.

*How do I apply for a character?

A description of the application process can be found on our Application Page. We currently have a list of unplayed characters that we would like to see filled, but if you'd like to apply for a character not listed, feel free.

*Who are the characters?

The full list of characters, played, unplayed and retired, can be found here. All of the characters in the "unplayed characters" section are open for applications. Also, all canon mutant NPCs are available for playing. A full list of available characters can be found here.

*What should I know?

No one can tell you what X-Project is. You have to experience it for yourself.

However, we can help a little. Our Wiki contains detailed information on game history, as well as characters, events, and various details of a gameworld spanning over five years of cooperative writing and gameplay.
