Hellfire Club: A social club located in New York City, the Hellfire Club caters to society's elite. While the public perception of the Club is that of extravagant decadence, the true power lies with the Club's Inner Circle, a group of mutants engaged in a prestigious battle for social and financial dominance, playing a grand game of chess with the world of business and industry.

The Inner Circle has involved members of the X-Men and the school in their machinations on numerous occasions, but since the interference of Pete Wisdom, the Inner Circle has been effectively crippled.

Surviving members of the Inner Circle include Sebastian Shaw (Black King), Harry Leland (Black Rook), and Emma Frost (White Queen).
