Set up into transporting drugs to [[Madripoor]] by a fellow traveller, Hepzibah was not charged, but lost her passport, belongings and money thanks to a corrupt police officer. Wandering the streets in an effort to find the American embassy, she was kidnapped, her striking looks and mutation making her a commodity. She spent six months in a highly exclusive "establishment" catering to those with more unusual tastes before she was sold to a businessman from Madripoor who was taken by her (and happened to also be [[Starjammers|Raza and Corsair's]] owner). When she tried to lull him into a sense of false security and then left him with a few scars to remember her by, she was relegated to the same factory where Raza and Corsair were working, where she became part of their plot to escape and from there joined the crew.

Janet Van Dyne came to the school as a part-time student after her powers manifested, her father hopeful that the school could teach her to keep her mutancy hidden. Bubbly, cheerful and always ready to help, Janet became an RA after her graduation and then an X-Man. In 2012, she accepted a fashion internship and left the school, to experience more of the world, but like everyone else who leaves, she is always welcome back.
