Moment of Awesome - Marie-Ange Colbert/Tarot: Marie-Ange interrupts her girlfriend's preparations to leave on a mysterious mission to ask some pointed questions, but understands in the end she can't have the answers. Yet.
“This is an X-Men op - I told the people who need to know what they needed to know.” Amanda sounded almost curt, but then her tone softened. “Yes, it’s the hell lord. I’ve been working on something that should take him down, and between the Brotherhood and the leather brigade, they should weaken him enough for it to work. But… I can’t use you. The spell only works with the people who were there originally. The ones his power’s touched.” Marie-Ange let her head fall back and looked up at the ceiling tiles. "This is what you were in Paris for, the night I was in New Jersey for five hours of traffic. Why?" She shook her head, confused, and looked back at Amanda. "Why can you not tell me what is going on. X-Men or not, why is this such a secret?" "Because it's not my secret to tell." Amanda's face twisted a little with the conflict she was feeling. "It's... complicated. Sort of like when you took off for New Orleans - it'll all come clean, but I can't risk letting you know anything, not just yet." "Ugh." Marie-Ange deflated a little. "So this is something big, that I cannot see ahead, and ..." She cut herself off. "I am not upset with you, I am frustrated with the situation, but I need to stop speculating because I am going to look around the holes if I do not stop, and that is how I end up in the same situation as Christmas." "I'll tell you everything when I'm able. But right now..." Amanda looked at her watch, biting her lip. "I have to go. Make sure the others don't go barging in? I wouldn't put it past Jubes to try and "save" me." "I can. At worst, I will lie and tell them horrible things will happen if they barge in." It would probably not even be much of a lie. "Or just lie more and pretend I have no idea where you are. Be safe. When it is something like this and I cannot check to see if you are safe, I worry." Amanda smiled and leaned forward to kiss Marie-Ange’s cheek. “Thanks for trusting me. See you when it’s done, love." |
