Her sight restored by Nathaniel Essex in a controversial operation, Betsy was possessed by Kwannon, donor of the brain tissue used in her cure. Kwannon's reign damaged Betsy's confidence and many of her relationships, including that with Scott Summers, and she spent the next few years somewhat aimless.
