What is an augmented mutant?
While not a power itself, an augmented mutant is generally classified as a mutant that has been enhanced by outside technologies or through the addition of a foreign material to their base biology.*
The presence of an aid does not necessarily mean the mutant in question is augmented, as, for example, Artie’s speech synthesizer does not enhance his pre-existing abilities and powers but does aid his ability to communicate with others.
What types of Augmentations are there?
The two major types of augmentation are technological and biological. Mutants augmented by technology tend to have only pre-existing abilities or traits enhanced by the technology implemented, while mutants who have been biologically augmented exceed their baseline potentials due to the addition of something to their DNA.
