100px Jean Grey: Almost two years after her 'death' at Alkali Lake, Jean Grey returned to the mansion, believing herself to be an amnesiact woman by the name of 'Jane'. She recovered her memory and resumed her place in the school and the team, eventually marrying longtime romantic interest Scott Summers, but part of her subconscious resented the loss of her simpler life in Vancouver and with some 'help', possessed herself, almost destroying Jean's life. Even after she returned to her right mind, Jean retained a darker edge, showing a distinct lack of X-Men-like mercy to opponents such as Scott's abductors and Tara Trask. She has joined Scott at the West Coast Annex to establish the new X-Men team for the West Coast: it will be interesting to see what this change will reveal in Jean's multi-facted personality.
