Plot Summary
Logan and Marie's investigations have turned up a possible lead in the attack in Canada that left most of Alpha Flight dead. In Edmonton, a cargo plane registered to South Seas Skyways, a Madripoor based airfreight company, had landed a few days earlier and departed a day following the attack. The pilot, Archie Corrigan, appeared in the information Logan and David North had as a former Air Force pilot who had been tasked to the WEAPON X project by William Stryker.
While it might be a slim lead, it is worth checking out. Kane reaches out to his father, who once again puts him in touch with Dugan in Madripoor. However, Dugan mentions that Madripoor has been heating up lately, with rumours that American mutants are moving into the criminal underworld and staking claims. He strongly suggests not coming alone.
An X-Men team travels to Madripoor, and Corrigan through backups agrees to meet them at the Princess Bar. Corrigan mentions a few tidbits of information, including that he did make the flight to Edmonton, but his flight path included a stop in Hong Kong both ways. Corrigan says he can't give up information on a client, but he leaves a clue for them: Sublime Pharm Solutions.
The company, headquartered in Hong Kong, has a Madripoor office and substantial shipping concerns. A visit to their docks provides a grisly clue; evidence of smuggling mutants in captivity. Unfortunately, before they can look further, the docks erupt in violence between rival gangs, and the X-Men are forced to defend themselves. This further stokes the tensions and gang wars start to erupt all over the island, endangering their cover.
Quickly, they return to South Seas Airways to confront Corrigan, only to find the man dead, and a trio of assassins waiting for them. As they join battle, a fourth strikes from behind; Deathstrike, believed long dead. The battle is fought to a standstill, and the assassins retreat before the X-Men can capture any of them, leaving them with more questions as they slip out of Madripoor.
