Details

AIM primarily operates through third parties, selling advanced tech and weaponry and funding attacks by other groups on targets they have an interest in, particularly research and development, tech prototypes and advanced experiments. For the last five years, they've grown increasingly bold targeting SHIELD facilities and have stolen a significant amount of technology. Their success has made them both a major target of SHIELD and has fueled concerns inside the agency that AIM may have multiple agents embedded in their own ranks. AIM operations are characterised by the use of advanced weapons, robotics, cybernetically enhanced soldiers and an array of chemical munitions. To date, none of the senior scientists who lead AIM have been identified, although it is rumoured that the terrorist group dates back to the 50s or even earlier.

In 2021 they came up on the radar of the X-Men when the mutant team was called in by SHIELD to assist in rescuing Captain America[ from the group and MODOK. Later they were involved in the Sentinels program, uncovered by the X-Men in X-Men Mission: Lone Sentinel and then later when the program was dismantled by the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men, working separately but with the same goal. Like MODOK and Bolivar Trask, the group has once again faded into the background, to reappear at a future date.
