Plot Summary
When an incident in the cafeteria at the Salem Center High School escalated into a riot, known mutant student Laurie Collins was blamed and summarily arrested and locked up by the bigoted Salem Center PD. Her mother contacted Charles Xavier and asked for his help, and he sent lawyer Nathan Dayspring to represent her.
With the aid of sympathetic ADA Emerson, who did not agree with the treatment of Laurie in the police cells, they secured her release on bail. Paige conducted tests on Laurie's mutation, which was manipulation of pheremones, establishing the range and effect of her powers. At the trial, Laurie was unable to sit in the courtroom, for fear her powers would effect the judge or jury. Moira gave evidence of Laurie's powers, and combined with Nathan's defence, they were able to secure a 'not guilty' verdict.
On her release, Laurie decided to change schools and attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
