Feedback to Redhawk.

D&D

Haroun

Haroun stood outside the doorway, listening to a couple of the trainees and other kids unwind after a hard day.

"OK, so Gwendolyn moves up six squares, declares Dodge against the little red dot..."

"HEY! That's my joke!"

"... and sets up flanking to the bad guy over there. Roll to hit ... nineteen! That threatens a crit..."

"It's amazing how often she does that." said another voice, laughing.

Haroun couldn't help but shake his head and grin. He remembered more than a couple of long nights in the hospital bed with Feyd the double-specialized half-elven fighter-assassin. Kids these days, with their hat of d02 and their Fortitide saves. No appreciation for the good old days, when halflings were hobbits and Gygax ruled. What he wouldn't give for a little THAC0 action himself. Dammit, he _missed_ making a save versus dragon's breath and having a +2 sword be wonderous and special.

He thought about going in, then shook his head and kept walking. They could have their own adventures. Feyd would have to keep his scimitars sheathed for a while longer yet.

Dreams

Marie-Ange Colbert.

The moon was full and Marie-Ange couldn't sleep. The dreams kept her roused, taunting her with half-realized spectres of screaming and death.

To amuse herself, she closed her eyes and opened a door in her mind.

On the floor, a grey bug took form - a cockroach, just as hideous as the one she saw back in Lyons when she was twelve. Except this bug had a human face, and glowing red eyes.

Love me, those eyes said. Give it away for free.

She took great satisfaction in driving the heel of her foot through the image's head.
