Johnny Storm/The Human Torch: Bobby Drake and Johnny Storm - Ice and Fire - team up to help put out the fires caused by the damage inflicted on NYC by the android Torch.

"Hey, BD. Why don't I suck while you blow....the flames, dude. The flames."

"LOL," Bobby said out loud, because he was Bobby. "No, I get you, that makes total sense." He took a deep breath and hoped he had another second wind in him, which would be more like a, what, fourth or fifth wind? He'd lost count.

"Let's do it up, bro." He gave Johnny a thumbs up before hopping on a new ice slide and heading for the next closest blaze, doing exactly as his partner had suggested. He started blowing frosty cold air near the upper part of a large column of fire, hoping the other mutant would then be able to attack it at its base.

Johnny flew next to him. As soon as Bobby began cooling the large column of fire, Johnny began absorbing it. The flames shrunk back dramatically. Johnny watched as the fire disappeared and the ground hissed miserably. He poked the ground and felt a little chill. "Noice," He drawled. "Looks like it's working, I guess ... that's the power of teamwork!" Johnny thrust his hand into the air, finger pointing to the sky, holding his pose. Johnny snuck a sideways glance at Bobby. He was a little worried he was putting too much pressure on the Iceman. They still had a lot of fires to go. "Ready, for the next round?"

While it was certainly taxing work, Bobby was enjoying the challenge. "Definitely, this is nothing." That wasn't true but he was trying to keep both of their spirits up as they continued to press on. "I can do this all day, though I really hope we don't have to just the same." They'd been at it for a while already and, while they were successful at their job, there was still a lot of fires left blazing.

Speaking of which, he pointed at another one off in the not-too-distant direction ahead of them from his current vantage point standing on a rooftop. "Let's get that one next, yeah? Race you!" He jumped off of the rooftop, creating an ice slide underneath him as he did so and using the momentum to shoot off towards the next pillar of flame.

Johnny perked up at the sound of his favourite word: Race. His face darkened as memories began to trickle back into his mind. Shaking his head furiously, he flew up into the air. He smiled seeing Bobby speed off to the next flame pillar and rushed after him. He flew around the fire pillars slowly shrinking them, before dipping down and absorbing as Bobby cooled them. He looked back at the charred landscape surrounding them. Twisted shapes grew out of the ground; skeletons reaching out trying in vain to grasp the air. The heat of the flames gave him a sick comfort. He knew their warmth, their hunger. He understood flames. It was these skeletons that frightened him. After the flames, the nothingness, the remains of what could have been, of what was. The air here was absent of warmth. It wasn't only Bobby's cooling, there was something else. A sort of calm after the storm. A world devoid of life. A world that still screamed out in pain to him. He wiped his brow, plastered a smirk on his face and turned to Bobby. "Dude, I think we're making a dent. We're getting there." He grinned and turned back to the fires, the smile slipping a little bit. Getting where though?

"Yeah man, like, a few dents. Major dentage." That was totally a word, wasn't it? Bobby thought so and left it at that. He slid down onto the ground, coming to a rest just a few feet away from Johnny. A singed metal rod rested near his foot and he kicked it a little, listening to the hollow echo it made as it rattled down the burned out hallway.

"Though there's still a hell of a lot of work to be done, huh?" It really was depressing, though all they could really focus on for the time being was putting out the fire and moving on to the next one.

Johnny nodded at Bobby. He was glad that there were other teams busy within the firestacks. While he and Bobby were undoubtedly the perfect team for "fire duties: there were too many and too spread out for them to deal with them all. The City was so dense that even one fire could affect so many lives. He knew they both felt a little useless, trying to battle the seemingly endless blazes. Teamwork, he thought, It's all about teamwork. It was only because all the teams we working together that they were making a difference. He felt like he was understanding something, but just wasn't completely sure what it was. "Alright," he said taking flight once again. "Let's get to this."
