Biography
Childhood
The son of Sebastian Shaw, Black King of the Hellfire Club, Shinobi lead a rather aristocratic life, albeit in his father's overbearing shadow. It does not help that his father is, for all intents and purposes, invincible, leaving Shinobi with very few methods of rebelling against his father that would not result in a stay in a hospital.
Born in Tokyo and raised in transit between the various Hellfire Clubs' and Shaw Industries' cities - London, most prominantly - Shinobi was never spoiled as a child, despite his father's billionaire status. He was granted just what he needed, which was admitedly more than most children would ever dream of seeing, but knowing the vast wealth that lay beyond it resulted in the boy never being entirely satisfied with his father's generosity. He had few friends, save Tessa, and grew up learning how to manipulate people for his own ends and percieved others in terms of what they could do for him.
Compared to how he was with most people, however, Sebastian was quite generous with his boy. Strict, as well, but with good reason. One cannot groom the heir of a multi-billion dollar company and mutant-kind's saviors (and perhaps, future rulers) without laying down a few simple rules. Much to Sebastian's dismay, his son had a bit of a rebellious streak, but hoped he would grow out of it before the day came to pass on the figurative sceptor.
Unfortunately, Shinobi was never a very patient boy, either, and after a visit to a Hellfire Club's party by Emma Frost and a few students of Xavier's in June 2003, he began his plans for vengeance, and eventually, usurping his father and taking his rightful place as the Black King. That chance came in December 2003, when he was summarily drafted by Emma to aid her in her escape from the mental institution in Madrid Shaw had her imprisoned in. Faced with the chance to escape his father's influence and make allies in his fight against him, Shinobi needed little encouragement and requested sanctuary at the school. Despite initial misgivings from Pete Wisdom, he was granted that sanctuary.
Living At The X-Mansion
Arriving at the school, Shinobi found himself changing his immediate plans rather quickly. Unused to being accepted for his own worth, he was surprised to find himself making friends among the student population, particularly the more troubled ones: Angelo Espinosa, Amanda Sefton, Manuel de la Rocha and Marie D'Ancato. A flirtation with Sarah Morlocke quickly developed into something more, depsite the self-proclaimed 'monster's' emotional and behavioural issues. When Emma Frost approached him, he swore loyalty to the White Court of the Hellfire Club.
Over time, Shinobi learned to see people as more than pawns, and this led to a dramatic shift in his personal ethics. He confessed to Alison Blaire that he had been tempted to use Miles Blaire to defeat his father, and applied for and was granted X-Man status. However, when Sarah needed to leave the school, he went with her to Boston. Her mission for vengeance and 'death' at the hands of the Marauders left him shaken, and he admitted to Nathan Dayspring that he had let his love overwhelm his sense of what was right, and asked for further training.
Further Information
In October 2004, Shinobi left the mansion again, this time to visit his mother's grave in Japan. Whilst there he decided not to return, and Sarah joined him sortly after. It is believed that Shinobi is building his own business connections and working to take down his father, who is unaware of his exact location. His relationship with Sarah ended in mid-2006, with the Morlock returning to the United States and eventually joining X-Force.
