|Dr. Curt Connors|
Portrayed by Rhys Ifans
|Known Aliases:||The Lizard|
Human beings are weak, pathetic, feeble-minded creatures. Why be a human at all when we can be so much more? Faster, stronger, smarter. This is my gift to you.
Dr. Curt Connors was a scientist at OsCorp who researched regenerative medicine. Exposure to an experimental treatment turned him into the monstrous Lizard until he was defeated by Spider-Man.
Name: Curt Connors
Aliases: The Lizard
A former colleague of Richard Parker at OsCorp, working on a regenerative medicine project. Parker died before he could provide Connors with a “decay rate algorithm,” an important factor in completing this project. Connors is personally invested in this project because he wants to regrow his right arm, which he’d lost as a soldier in the Gulf War. When Peter sought him out and provided him with his father’s notes, Connors was able to complete the serum and tested it on himself. His arm regrew in a matter of hours, but it had an unfortunate side effect: because he’d used lizard DNA to provide chemical instructions for regeneration, the serum transformed him into a monstrous lizard-human hybrid. After a couple of battles with Peter as Spider-Man, Connors designed a bomb that would spread the serum in gaseous form all over Manhattan. Peter and Gwen Stacy neutralized the bomb before it could cause any serious damage, and Connors was defeated, but not before he killed Gwen’s father. In January of 2014, Connors was found guilty of first-degree murder and several counts of attempted murder and terrorism. He is currently incarcerated at the Ravencroft Institute.
The lizard DNA-enhanced super soldierSerum changed Dr. Connors into a large reptilian beast who possessed superhuman strength, speed, durability, and agility, as well as razor-sharp claws and a mild regenerative healing factor. Since his defeat at Spider-Man's hands, he has reverted to human form and not accessed these abilities.
