The youngest child of Franklin and Mary Storm, and in many ways the black sheep of the family. Whilst his parents and his sister displayed amazing intellectual prowess Johnny preferred to spend his time on other less lofty pursuits. Overshadowed in his family by his older sister, the apple of her father's eye, Johnny sought attention where he could get it, from friends, other parents, anyone. This means that Johnny is outwardly very charismatic. In fact one may go so far as to say that he needs to be the center of attention.
When Johnny was 5 the family, went on a road trip traveling to NY, where Franklin had set up his think tank, Baxter Research Group. Although he claims that he doesn't really remember anything from this period, he does remember. He remembers the only time where the family seemed to work. Everyone seemed happy. He remembers the baseball game that their father took them too. And although disdainful of baseball as a slow and boring sport, his "physicality" and draw to sports, perhaps, stems from this captured moment of bliss. And, well, the extreme sports and recklessness were just a way of attracting attention from a family that never seemed to be able to focus on anyone but themselves. In that vein, Johnny's mother left to pursue her career when he was 6. To achieve this she faked her own death in a car accident, adding, if you'll forgive the pun, more fuel to the fire (haha) of his speed and danger addiction. In fact Johnny has shown particular affinity for cars and mechanics.
After their mother's death, their father involved himself deeper in work, and to a degree Sue, became a surrogate parent, but more willing to yield to his taste for adventure--but nonetheless Sue was forced to act much older than her age should have demanded. Finally having attention from someone delighted the young Johnny--and he became "the performer" in an effort to always keep her smiling--and event, which although she tried, was rarely sincere. This positive reaction to his antics further cemented his need to be the centre of attention.
When he and Sue finally found out that she was a mutant he was excited. Part of him expected that he too would get some superpowers, and he could live out his dream of being a superhero. The other part was purely focused on the amount of mischief that an invisible accomplice could achieve.
After the return of Molekvic, an event which Johnny remained unconscious for most of (much to his chagrin), Sue finally moved to the academy. Johnny was sent alone to his grandparents. It was here that his powers manifested much to his delight.
Living At The X-Mansion
In January 2014 he finally manifested his own flame powers, much to his delight, and joined his sister at Xavier's. His daredevil tactics got himself some attention when Angelica Jones caught him trying to fly by throwing himself out of a tree, and she took him under his wing to keep him out of trouble. He also made friends with his fellow students, his easy-going personality allowing him to fit in easily. In August he had his first encounter with the field trip curse when a trip to a street art fair in District X led to him helping to fight off a bunch of paintings that had been brought to life by an out of control mutant.
Johnny was quiet for the rest of the year, and during the Dark Phoenix Saga, went missing altogether. His current whereabouts and status are unknown.
Height: 5' 7"
Other Features: Dazzling smile.
Johnny can surround himself in fiery plasma, without damage to himself. He can also absorb fire/plasma without any damage.
Currently he can maintain small handheld flames, or cover his entire body in flames, he hasn't developed the control to selectively "flame" parts of his body. He also has trouble reducing the output to a level that would allow him to touch others, people will get badly burned if the touch him with his flame on, unless he's concentrating really hard. He can maintain flame mode for about half an hour, though any extra exertion, attempting to fly, fireballs and other flame shapes eats into that figure dramatically.
With his flame on he can vaporize projectiles, anything with a lower energy output than his surrounding flames doesn't affect him. He can dramatically increase the output level to "Nova Flames" but has very little control of this at the moment and just tends to burn himself out almost immediately--he can last in Nova for about thirty seconds with concentration, more than likely it will only be active for about 3-5 seconds. When in flame mode he can shape flames, not only those on his body, but he's having a tough time achieving any sort of control while he's not in flame mode.
He knows he can fly, he claims to have hovered a few times, but any sort of consistency is non-existent. To this affect he can often be found practicing by throwing himself off objects in an attempt to hover. No such luck so far…
Johnny's energy comes from his own internal fusion-- this is the reason for his skinniness he tends to mess around with his power so much that despite his astounding appetite he still doesn't real seem to be putting on weight. In the same vein, he can't really use his powers well if he isn't fed and nourished…he's definitely not a morning person.
Speed freak and amateur daredevil.
Claims to have the ability to drive any contraption known to man...as long as it goes fast.
