 Amara 'Magma' Aquilla is twenty years old and a graduate of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Rescued from Nova Roma, a city set up by Selene and maintained by her cult, Amara came to the school to learn how to use her powers - the manifestation and manipulation of molten rock and tectonic plates. Quiet, hardworking and friendly to others, she is focussing on learning not only powers control, but about a world from which she was cut off for all her remembered life. There is much for her to discover, both about the world and about herself. Amara's powers are threefold: Physical manifestation: Magma's powers allow her to assume an energized form in which she radiates intense light and heat. In this form, her entire body becomes molten, and her hair seems to catch fire. She is immune to her own light and heat, and heat from external sources. Taking this form is the only way she can manipulate magma. Geokinesis/terrakinesis: She can psionically control tectonic plate movement in a limited area, creating small, but strong earthquakes. Additionally, she can widen fault lines in the earth's crust to bring up molten rock, or create miniature volcanic mounds. Pyrokinesis/magma manipulation: Magma can ignite and project high temperature flames (which contain no rock), as well as superheat rock or stone (canon indicates she can reach at least 850 degrees Fahrenheit). She can then mentally blast this superheated, molten material at a target. She can also bring up magma from the earth's mantle and fire that at a target.
