Several weeks after David Haller was rendered catatonic by the events of A Haven to Call Home, various mansion residents witnessed a number of strange apparitions around the mansion grounds. These apparitions, wounded and confused, were unable to communicate their intent until Shatterstar realized the intruders were actually Haller's alters. Charles Xavier, alerted to this phenomena, arrived from Muir Island and quickly formed a hypothesis that Haller's alters had scattered across the astral plane and were now making their way back home, attracted by Quentin and Hope. The two were sent on an astral recovery mission while Charles and Jean readied themselves for the reconstruction efforts. Although the alters, confused and in pain, initially resisted efforts to be retrieved, Quentin and Hope each used their own unique method of persuasion. With the alters finally gathered, Jean entered Haller's mind and encountered a personality named Tami, formed in the wake of his mind's destruction as a sort of gatekeeper. With Tami's assistance, Jean was able to restore Haller's mind to its original state.

David Haller's reintegration did not go perfectly.
Upon his awakening, strange effects started to be felt and experienced by mansion psionics. Starting with Arthur Centino leaving memories on objects instead of just reading them, almost all of the psionics in the mansion were hit by unexpected growth, flares, and disruptions in their powers. This phenomeona grew in intensity over the following months, but was largely unnoticed due to more pressing events.
X-Factor Investigations worked to chart the effects in mid February 2024, collecting statements from all of the psionic mansion residents. This led to Jean Grey conducting mental scans of volunteers hit by the effects, and it was discovered that the source of the psychic interference was Haller's telepathy bleeding psionic energy constantly into the mansion.
David Haller departed temporarily from the mansion to Muir Island for rehabilitation in March 2024.
