Myomer is an electroactive polymer used as a multipurpose form of artificial muscle, primarily in cybernetic prosthetics, but also in applications such as robotics and aeronautics. It is composed of several different alloys and its main property is the ability to contract when varying amounts of electricity are conducted through it. To keep each myomer strand from exploding due to friction and heat, a molecule-thin layer of heat-dispersing material coats each strand. The limiting factor with myomer replacement of limbs and muscle is the weight and necessity to interweave the artificial muscle with existing biological muscle.
Myomer prosthetics have been used for Jetstream, Forge, and the Reavers.
