Name: Townshend Horgan

Aliases: Cat-Man

Occupation: Student

First appearance: October 2011

Family: Kate Horgan (mother); Neil Horgan (father), five half-brothers

Horgan, from Queens, New York, is sixteen, with no visible mutation save for retractable claws. He possesses cat-like reflexes, senses, and agility. He is the only child born to Neil and Kate Horgan, though Kate has five other sons from two different fathers. All of Horgan's half-brothers are at least ten years older than him. Being Neil's only son, Horgan was doted on as a child by his father, something which his brothers resented. He was bullied by his brothers from a young age and this translated to him being bullied by his brothers' friends and his later own peers throughout school.

As such he became a sullen, introverted young man with no close friends. A great form of solace to him was gymnastics, though instead of being part of a club or team, Horgan kept himself to himself, not wanting to suffer negative attention at the hands of his peers. Instead of performing his gymnastics at school or a community club, he mostly found his outlet on the streets of the neighbourhood, climbing fences, fire escapes, drainpipes and the like.

When he was fifteen, Horgan was spotted scaling a fire escape by some local naer-do-wells, who lauded his abilities instead of making fun of him. He found out that they were a little like him: Gordon Keefer had superhuman strength and Francois Le Blanc had amazing agility and leg strength. They were led by and also protected Henry Hawk, who possessed hollow bones like that of a bird.

These new friends gave him confidence, and in return he was swept up quickly into their makeshift gang and seemingly overnight became a terror to his parents- staying out all night, beating up younger teens at school, stealing from convenience stores, destroying property, all with the encouragement of his new friends. After a particularly heated confrontation with his parents near the end of the summer, Horgan left home, in the company of his new friends. His parents eventually hired X-Factor to find him, with Adrienne Frost and Warren Worthington taking on the case while the rest of the group was busy finding Vanessa. Callisto got involved when their search brought them to a mutant shelter and the former Morlock tracked down Townshend and talked him into returning home. Legal assistance, in the form of a lawyer friend of Warren's, Jennifer Walters, was obtained to clear up the issue of the robbery, with Townshend receiving a probation term.
