At the heart of the plan was a two-pronged attack against the students, using them as hostages to the co-operation of the rest. A field trip to Las Vegas was captured and placed in [[Arcade| Arcade's]] [[Murderworld]], and the regular bus run driven by [[Amanda Sefton]] was ambushed, the participants taken. In exchange for the bus run students and staff, the cult - who had joined forces with [[Belladonna Boudreaux-LeBeau]] - demanded the return of the mystical stones taken from [[Nova Roma]] the [[Worlds on Fire| previous year]]. He is compensated by the ability to project images or 'psychic holograms' of varying complexity - this ability has improved over time, and his images have become gradually more realistic from the basic 'stick drawings' of his early life.

Things turned bloody in Louisiana, with X-Force making no quarter with their foes. Amanda was discovered to have been tortured, her back sliced up as part of the ritual, and very few survived the group's wrath. Candra's death was a temporary respite only, however, as her magical powers mean than she has been reborn and may again surface to trouble the team, in whatever incarnation they might be.

Artie Maddicks: Artie has been at the school for as long, if not longer, than the older students such as Kitty Pryde and Theresa Cassidy. Little is known about his background: when Sarah Morlocke arrived, she identified him as one of the tunnel-dwelling Morlocks who had somehow survived the massacre. Artie himself has been unable to communicate much of what happened - he appears to have no great memory of his life before Xavier's, and his inability to speak also makes things difficult.

At the school, he originally shared a suite with Doug Ramsey and Jamie Madrox, becoming roommate and inseparable best friend to Miles Blaire when he was brought to the school by Alison. Sarah later identified Miles as another Morlock, however he too had no memory of that life. With the departure of Jamie, Miles and Alison to the West Coast Annex and Doug's job with the Snow Valley Memorial Center for Mutant Affairs, Artie lost most of his friends.
