This is the part where you remind me I have friends and allies and people who can back me up, and I don’t need to do this alone, and I know all of that, and I thought of all that. But this stupid fight has been going on for too long, and hurt too many people, and it’s time for it to end.
What appears to be a series of odd ailments turns into a crisis for the mansion dwellers - and Topaz is unknowingly at the center of it all.
Part 4 of The Destine Arc.

Plot Summary
Several months on from the events of Family Reunion, life has been quiet (more or less), and Topaz has lowered her guard again, thinking Taboo won’t come back for her and the Destines can’t find her. She’s wrong.
Throughout the course of two weeks, Adam Destine targets and curses several mansion dwellers, putting them in the med lab in varying degrees of pain and suffering that slowly become more severe as he puts down more victims. As the problems become more severe, the magic users are put to work trying to find a counter-spell while the med lab has to find ways to at least temporarily help the cursed victims.
One day, after the first six attacks, one of Amanda’s contacts reaches out and she goes to London. Almost as soon as she touches down, she’s ambushed by Adam. Amanda, caught off by guard by the attack, is seriously hurt, and Adam steals her phone off her in the process. Amanda manages to get away, pulling off a one-time teleport in desperation to get herself back to the mansion, and promptly collapses. Maya finds her and raises the alarm.
Adam uses Amanda’s phone to text Topaz saying if she doesn’t surrender, he’ll keep attacking people. Topaz, being Topaz and seeing her life as mattering less than anyone else’s, goes along without telling anyone. She meets Adam, who whisks her away to an abandoned house that the Destines have taken over. Grace and Jasmine are there, the former eager to get started, the latter hesitant.
It’s Marie-Ange who discovers Topaz is missing when she finds Topaz’s cat in hers and Amanda’s suite, and a note pleading for someone to take care of her. She also finds a letter addressed to Amanda and Topaz' Xavier’s-issued phone on the counter, along with the texts from Amanda’s phone (which has by now been broken and tossed in the trash). She posts to the team comm to let them know this new development.
The magic users attempt location spells, but Adam’s guarded the area, making it impossible to track Topaz. Topaz, meanwhile, is being methodically tortured by both Adam and Grace, who take turns with her, turning her own mind against her and forcing her to live through some of her worst fears until she eventually begs for death. Jasmine remains in the shadows, watching but not participating. As much as she wants to avenge her lost brothers, this is going too far. She doesn’t know how to make her siblings listen to her, though. After two days she finally snaps and contacts the mansion to let them know where they are. This is too much for her to handle.
Topaz is alive when found, and conscious, though not completely with reality; unfortunately for the rescue team, it’s not a simple in/out mission. Adam is furious, and he and Grace attack while Jasmine escapes in the chaos, knowing her brother will kill her if he finds out what she did. X-Force goes after the remaining Destines while the younger subsets fights off the demon minions and look for Topaz.
Marie-Ange and Dom end up against Adam, who puts up a fight. Adam puts a flaming thumb in Marie-Ange's eye, and in return she retaliates instinctually with a hidden knife, cutting up the side of his face and taking out his eye.
Wanda and Doug, meanwhile, are fighting Grace, who’s gone out of her head on blood magic, and out of control. Between the chaos, the blood magic, and the regular magic flying around and in the air, a spell rebounds on Grace, causing her to explode — literally. The rebound also hits Adam, and between that and his eye, he’s forced to escape. The curses he’s placed on the various victims break when he leaves, and the victims are able to begin recovering.
Thankfully, none of the kids are around for that aftermath. They find Topaz, and Ty ‘ports them all back to the mansion before going back for X-Force. It’s messy all around.

Marie-Ange's eye loss was the continuation of a storyline Frito started fourteen years ago - she was very pleased with the opportunity.

Plotrunner: Sam
This was Sam's third attempt at resetting Topaz' mental state to start getting her to deal with the many awful events that had happened in her life. Since the first two ( Somewhere I Belong and Burn The Witch) didn't work, she decided to go all the way and hard reset, hoping that breaking Topaz would make things easier.
