Biography
Lee Kuk is a refugee from North Korea, trained as a bodyguard to Kim Jong Il from the time he was 17. 'Cook', as his American colleagues have dubbed him, is a mutant on a mission. When North Korea began testing for the x-gene ten years ago (a crude test but used nonetheless), naturally they applied it to those nearest to Dear Leader first. Lee was found out as a mutant and spent two years in a prison camp. He was released because his cousin in Kim Jong Il's service managed to arrange it and he fled to China and then later to America.
In America, Lee was appalled at what he found. As a mutant who doesn't hide what he is and a refugee, he found it difficult to get work and ended up starting out as a car washer for a private security company. Over ten years, though, Lee worked his way to a relatively respectable role as a consultant and team leader in a Manhattan security firm that caters to celebrities and politicians and also independantly audits security systems at major facilities.
When Lee saw the CNN Special on Xavier's he was deeply moved by Charles' dream. Later he heard, through rumours, that the mansion had come under assault more than once. This brought the school to his attention once more and his pro-mutant yearnings were awakened. He was inspired to make an offer to Charles, a request for employment, and Charles offered him the position as head of security for the mansion.
Kuk was instrumental in coordinating the defense against the Reavers in 2004, and in 2006 trained Forge as his replacement, choosing to retire and spend time with his family, convinced that the school's safety was left in good hands.
Powers/Abilities
Kuk's mutant ability is a minor one, but useful in his line of work. His visual acuity extends into the infrared and ultraviolet ranges of light, allowing him to see in near-darkness.
