| Callie Betto came to the mansion after the death of her beloved mother from cancer, sent there by her father who had once worked at the school as a landscaper due to his powers of chlorokinetics. Callie's similar powers were in remission due to the trauma of her mother's death, but gradually as she began to settle at the school, they returned. A dedicated student and somewhat prim young woman, Callie was somewhat aloof from most of her peers, preferring her own company and to study. Her relationship with new arrival Fred Dukes - Phase 1 changed her outlook, although it was to be short-lived: in February 2010 she left for Brazil, to intern with the Alvorecer Novo/New Dawn mutant environmental group and learn more about her plant-controlling abilities, planning to return to attend college at Columbia.
