The blond man waved that off, getting back to business. His eyes shone with good humor. "My goal here is to learn what's normal for you before jumping into what might have been different lately. Sounds like you're describing what Haller would call," and he reflexively switched accents again to something closer to Jim's holmesian logic, "standard telepathic projection and manipulation." He put a hand to his chin in thought. "So let's get to it. Has anything been different within the last three months? Flares, expected growth, not coming as easily as normal?" "Standard telepathic projection and manipulation in the way Cartier makes standard jewellery, yes," replied Emma, smiling. "None of the more exotic flavourings like technopathy or psychometry. As for changes. . . None that I've noticed particularly. I haven't been in the Mansion much, I admit, and from your email it sounds like you think that's where any changes might manifest? I mean," Emma leaned back in her chair, "I did unexpectedly turn into organic diamond during a spectacularly traumatic event, so I'm willing to consider more deeply if you have parameters to work within?" He nodded over his notes, but extended a hand. "Psychometry here," and he gave his fingers a wiggle, "I just discovered I had it last year, but it's a good example — I've been putting my own memories onto objects without knowing it. There are at least ten others experiencing power issues — just the psis — but the common part does seem to be being at or around the Mansion." Arthur tried to give an honest smile. "There's no clear through-line or objective yet. When's the last time you were at the Mansion?" Emma shrugged. “I’ve flitted in and out; a few hours here or there over the last few weeks.” She frowned suddenly, tapped a diamond fingernail on the desk. “When you’re talking differences in powers. . . would you be talking about a shift in my telepathy? Or is there any suggestion of suddenly using an. . . associated power.” She shook her head slightly and sighed. “Let me be terribly blunt about the whole thing; is there a possibility I could be suffering from telekinesis?” This got his interest. Arthur raised both eyebrows and leaned in just a little. "Please, tell me more about 'suffering from telekinesis.' I've never had to worry about it." Emma made a moue. “It’s so. . . tacky,” she sighed. “All these telepaths going round and developing telekinesis. Like lifting things with your mind isn’t just turning your brain into a brute force machine. Telekinesis isn’t elegant, Arthur.” She sighed again, this one deep and positively heart-rending. “I assumed one of the others was pranking me.” "If it helps," he offered with an extended hand, not close enough to touch, "Everyone else is likely too preoccupied to have noticed. TK does seem," and there was the slow consideration of carefully chosen words here, "common paired with telepathy. Are we talking big things," and the man spread his arms to helpfully mime lifting a heavy object, "or smaller?" His gesture tightened, as if he was trying to indicate the shape of a racketball. “Pieces of paper,” replied Emma. “Small items falling over behind me, that kind of thing. The kind of thing that might be a sudden unexpected gust of wind, or dust, or a sudden unexpected burst of TK, all of which are available to residents here. Ugh,” said Emma, somehow managing to make the word sound impossibly elegant. “Adrienne once told me she saw a few of my bedside trinkets floating beside me when she came in to wake me up. The thing is, Mr Centino,” said Emma, almost but not quite accusatory, “I absolutely refuse to be telekinetic. My mind is a scalpel, not a bulldozer. If I need to lift heavy objects, I have my own methods.” And for a moment, her skin rippled into diamond form and then back again. When she’s out, she meets Shinobi, who’s been helping Nathan find a ring for Moira. Cecilia and Madelyn hit Harry’s to discuss Sarah, and once they return, the younger doctor gets be snarky to Alison and Haroun, who’d been experimenting in the pool (with powers, that is). Amanda and Sarah share a smoke and confidences on the balcony. And when strange riddles are being circulated through the mansion, Moira fingers Nathan as the culprit. 2005: Madelyn apologises to Jean for her issues with telepathy in the wake of the incident with Betsy. Warren returns to the school. Forge suggests Jennie talk to her mother. Wanda cuts off her hair. With Malice Aforethought: Scott asks Forge for his help in finding Lorna; Remy discovers Lorna's 'friend' was never at LAX the day Lorna disappeared. 2006: 2007: Family Portrait: Haller talks to Laurie about her father and the repercussions of the letter she received. Scott and Laurie ask Gail for permission for Laurie to be a trainee. Jono and Jan meet. Kyle messes with his mother's head. 2008: Pete comments on the election debate. Krypteia: Scott announces Blackbird manoeuvres for the evening; Callisto drives Angelo and his students to Central Park; at the exhibition, Noriko and Karolina plan to sneak off to go to a concert; Angelo meets the head of Alvorecer Novo , a mutant rights group from Brazil; during the New Dawn speech, mutants attack the speaker, Mariana Machado ; in the confusion, Angelo finds Tatiana and Machado and calls in the X-Men; Karolina and Noriko are attacked by one of the would-be assassins, a girl not much older than them, and are rescued by Callisto; in the ensuing fight between the X-Men and the teenage assassins, a blast of Scott's goes wild and he seriously injures one of them, requiring them to evacuate him to the mansion; Angelo and Callisto get the students home; the injured boy dies; Scott makes his report to the team comm; Karolina freaks out on the journals; Nathan identifies a Mistra tattoo on the dead boy and they draw links to the Alaskan facility. Jennie reports on the outcome of the murder trial of her friend's killer. 2010: Upon realising Meggan has never been to the Waffle House, Kevin introduces her to waffle-y goodness. 2011: Doug and Garrison commiserate about ex-girlfriends. The Curse: Wanda, Amanda and Ororo meet with the Minorus to go over their plan for stopping Arcana Minoru for good. 2012: Hope texts Tandy to ask for moral support while she says no to her mom. Tandy talks to Adrienne about how she can help Hope. Tandy texts Maddie about Hope saying no and hanging out together. Adrienne visits Kane in the Medlab. Haller texts Betsy, asking if she can Skype. Sonatorrek:Jean, Emma and Jim work to restore Garrison’s mind; Kane wakes up and finds out he is being investigated by Internal Investigations for murder. Angelo asks JPC and Amanda to check on Marie-Ange. 2013: Wade displays a picture of a coffee table that he bought on Craigslist. 2014: Tandy and Julian go skydiving and wind up landing in the lake; Marie takes care of the two drowned rats. Higher Than Hope: Laurie gets her second assignment, involving organ removal; Laurie’s patient turns out to be a young mutant who she has to operate on without anesthetic; Trance presents the results of her first assignment to the Archduke. Doug and Wade go looking for Telford Porter and discover he has nothing to do with the missing girls. PHASE 2 2015: Jubilee makes a journal entry that she’s arrived in South Korea, along with a link to an interesting piece of clothing. Nica checks on Maya and survives. 2016: Wade explains a little bit about his religion by posting a religious text by the Tacopope. Domino posts a pool, wondering about people’s thoughts about a convolutional neural network. Sharon F.posts to offer an advanced first aid course to anyone who is interested. Sharon F.emails Julian, Angel and Kyle to see if the mentors can convince Amadeus to sign up for first aid. The Dulcet Sound of My Voice: Hope A. posts on xp_teams regarding the resurgence of Foundation for Genetic Harmony (now named GenetiX United) and that she’s captured two key members with assistance from others. Clarice posts about wanting to live in a tiny house with a TARDIS closet. 2017: Psi War: Rachel and Marie-Ange help guide Quentin into his new body, which he soon discovers is missing a key component: his powers. Marie-Ange texts Wade and Doug, asking for a vacation from the drama. Felicia makes an instagram post of Kiev in the fall. 2018: Topaz apologizes to Clea and Stephen for getting kidnapped. Morningstar: Warren emails Bobbi about celebrating their anniversary. 2019: 2020: Gabe is bruised after his stunt with Emma’s diamond form. 2021: 2022: 2023: Sam and Alani talk, and new opportunities arise.
