Arc Summary

Desperate to find a cure for his increasing probable death by maladaptive powers, Marius Laverne left the school, winding up in Europe with Manuel de la Rocha and Jennie Stavros. A powers interaction with Manuel's empathy led to the three becoming dangerously co-dependent on each other, ignoring all reasons why they should return home. Marius purchased a young Albanian girl - nicknamed "Penance" - from the mutant black market and with her powers he was able to achieve some sense of normality. Apart from the huge wrongness of the entire situation.

Brought back to the mansion by the X-Men after a violent stand-off in which Manuel was hit by a runaway truck and put into a coma, Jennie and Marius were 'fixed' by Professor Charles Xavier - unfortunately, the realisation of what had happened damaged their relationship deeply. Until Marius found himself effected by a 'gift' from Infectia to Dr. Henry McCoy, his powers reacting to her spores to the point he became feral and dangerous. Jennie confronted him (and hit him with a tree) and he was brought down (again) by the X-Men, the incident serving to re-establish the trust between them. That relationship only grew deeper - if not slightly disturbing at times - after the Ahab (plot) incident, in which the DNA of Jennie, Marius and Kyle Gibney was combined in the Hound process. Cured by Dr. Nathaniel Essex, the bond between the three remained, and does to this day.

Arc Plots

Bleeding: Suffering from the increasingly traumatic effects of his mutation and convinced that no one can help him, Marius Laverne deserts Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in a last-ditch attempt to find a power that can halt the deterioration. When he enlists the aid of former student Manuel de la Rocha and his classmate Jennie Stavros, desperation and an unexpected powers-interaction cause matters to escalate to the point their former teachers have no choice but to intervene.

Vitiation: After the events of Bleeding, Marius and Jennie are finally forced to confront the ensuing problems. The hard way.

Ahab (plot): Rory Campbell is chasing his great White Whale. Namely, Moira MacTaggart. Ever since Kevin MacTaggart decided that "Uncle Rory didn't need his leg anymore" he's been obsessed with trying to make himself safe from mutants, and he believes he has found a way to do so. Hounds. Rory doesn't quite have a perfect process yet, but he's got some new targets in mind. One that will strike back at the object of his obsession and the people who stole her from him. Her students.
