Biography
Childhood
Karolina grew up in Hollywood, the only child of two famous actors, Frank and Leslie Dean. She doesn't really know her father's side of the family, as they didn't approve of his marriage to Leslie, and have been out of communication ever since, aside from an occasional card to Karolina on her birthday. She's never wanted for anything, financially, and is a bit used to having her desires met, although one wouldn't call her spoiled. Her parents have done their level best to give her a 'normal' childhood, without the press breathing down her neck. She attended a normal middle school, lived in a normal middle-class neighborhood, and has taken about two years of German, so would not consider herself anything remotely approaching fluent. She is vegan for ethical reasons.
Karolina attended the same school as Lorna Dane had as a teenager.
Living At The X-Mansion
Karolina manifested shortly in the middle of school in February 2006, and was brought to Xavier's attention through Lorna's mother who still had connections to the school board. Lorna came to California to meet with and talk to the nervous young girl. It was decided that Karolina would benefit from attending Xavier's, and she accompanied Lorna back to the mansion.
Karolina settled quickly into the school, although being much younger than most of the students meant she was somewhat quiet and reserved. She was also homesick for California, and visited home semi-frequently. It was on one of these visits she was approached by a man who wanted to take pictures of her for a website. She alerted the staff at the school, and a mutant pornography ring was broken up as a result.
Further Information
Karolina has almost completed her freshman year at Xavier's.
Physical Characteristics
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 85 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde
Other Features: Now there is a constant rainbow aura of light emanating from her entire body, although it dims at night/on overcast days.
Powers
Karolina can fly and manipulate solar energy. When she arrived at Xavier's she had no awareness of any other powers (other than the rainbow glow). Several weeks after her arrival at the school, she also discovered she could fly.
Once she learns about and learns control of her other powers, Karolina could be a very effective fighter, manipulating the solar energy into defensive shields or offensive blasts. Her abilities are somewhat similar to Alison's, although charged differently, of course. To continue to be effective, she needs sunshine (or a sun lamp). The light aura is ever present and unsuppressable, save through the use of inhibitors or complete exhaustion of her stored energy.
Equipment
None.
Trivia
Karolina is strictly vegan, and very liberal in her politics, caring about the environment and the welfare of animals.
