"That, Wisdom, was a terrorist act."
"Was it really? Wonder why? Maybe it's because you people -- the world intel community -- are not behaving properly. You are perpetrating disgusting crimes against humanity, and I am personally offended by the crimes against mutant humanity, which are committed with abandon!" Be advised; there are a lot of people like me out there in the dark. And we're keeping an eye on you."
It's a strange world out there. In the light, heroes fight villians over the fate of the world, while the public struggles between hatred and love in fifteen second soundbites on the television and across the Internet. The lines are clearly drawn between light and dark; between right and wrong. There are good guys and bad guys and you can feel comfortable and sure that you're hitting the right guy.
But in the dark, down under the noble words, the venerable insituitions, the countries that call for the open debate for the future, things have grown in the cracks and the foundations. Some forgotten, some they desperately wish they could forget about. The things, and their caretakers, are not as easily explained or fought. The lines aren't clear in the black, which is why it is not a place for heroes.
Only those too bloody minded, too damaged, or too corrupt themselves to fit the clear light above end up down here. The only reason they have is that someone has to. Someone has to dig for the roots and the reasons before they get too big, and enter the light unstoppable. Where evil uses the very tools of good for its own protection. Where things are too fucked up or just too plain weird to make sense to everyone else. A life in a dark place of secret histories, alternative truths and unknown crimes against humanity.
Welcome to X-Force. You probably won't survive the experience.

Team Structure
X-Force is a different beast to the X-Men. There is no real hierarchy in the group. The closest thing to a leader is Wisdom, by both dint of his experience and abilities. Past him, likely Remy and Betsy. Ultimately though, it's a loose team collective, who operate in a different manner then the more specialized X-Men. Past of the reason for the looser dynamics is the fact that most of the plots start with an undefined issue or problem. They don't have the ability to simply dispatch a strike force. Most of their plots involve trying to figure out what the situation actually is.
Part of that idea is to incorporate mutants who lack direct combat abilities into a more action based structure. Some one like Cypher has no logical place on a strike team, but as part of an investigative team, it is entirely open that he finds himself into a situation without warning. The other thing is to play off of the relative strengths and abilities of each character past merely combat levels; explore many of the fringes that the world and the powers offer. For those that know the concept, something akin to a "Global Frequency" like team within the mutant movieverse.
Since it's a job, those coming into XF need a reason to be there. Either skills, powers, background or circumstance has to give them a role. Wisdom alone won't bring people into risk for no good reason. However, that doesn't mean they need to all be ninja assassins or ex-miliary types. The science nerd is as vital to the team as the psycho assassin. The range of missions will showcase their abilities and value in the plots. That being said, there will have to be a base level of competence or training agreed on when coming in. While you don't need to be a ninja, you will be learning the crashcourse of nasty-ass self-defense training via one of the members. But all the characters don't need to be combat specialists or trained spies.
The group, already known as the X-Force by some of those involved, is disassociated with Xavier's on a very real level. If they do their jobs right, no one should ever know that they've been there. The X-Men are heroes. These people are just anonymous people, working in the dark.
The minimum age requirement to be a part of X-Force is eighteen. No exceptions.
The majority of X-Force have cover jobs with the Snow Valley Memorial Center for Mutant Affairs, a mutant think-tank with offices in Manhattan, New York.
