After being seated, she waited for the maitre'd to leave before truly looking at the restaurant around them. "Lord, it really is lovely here." She couldn't think of any anniversaries or special occasions that would call for this sort of evening, but Terry also hadn't really thought about them much after they started the drive. "Are y'goin' t'give me a hint about what's brought us out tonight? No' that we need a reason, o'course." Instead, first, Kyle drank his water. "No reason for tonight, I guess, but not no reason?" Water was great, he took another drink. "I've planned this a lot. So much. Ter, you have no idea how many times. I am so glad you don't see how many times Marius has made fun of me. Including this weekend." He paused. "I was gonna do it this weekend, and then I couldn't be that much of a cliche. I couldn't. Valentine's Day is a ..." He fumbled a little, and went into his suit pocket and brought out the little pinecone, wrapped so carefully in white tissue paper shot through with gold. "You see me. I mean. You know me, and you've seen me at my worst, and you know me at my best, or the best I am right now, and you make sure I'm not running myself into the cracks, and you never hesitate to tell me I'm neglecting myself, but you also - you get why I do what I do, teaching and the institute work and the team." He nudged the little pinecone, fingers stiff with sheathed claw. "You tell me when I'm doing good work and you believe in what I'm doing and you give like, so much of your time to people, and you jump both feet right into caring for people and you make me a better person. That's really what it is, we make each other better people. We're a team. I mean, we're on the team but we're a team." "So. I wanted to make this us, and not because of the date, or a holiday and don't ask me how many times I had this pinecone in my pocket and ready to just ask, and couldn't make the words come out, and today felt right. So." He pulled on one delicate edge of the tissue paper, to show a glint of metal. "The first time we met, this pinecone was in my pocket and I couldn't tell you why I saved it then, but I've been saving it for years now, so that I could have it when I asked you to marry me." Getting down on one knee was not something a person rehearsed, except one billion times in their head. "Will you marry me?" Terry had been teasing, sort of, about why they'd gone out to such a posh restaurant, but then Kyle had started talking and her eyes had widened. They'd continued widening until she'd needed to blink and when he said he'd kept the pinecone for years so he could have it when he proposed -- tears welled up in her eyes as her hands covered her mouth. Then he'd asked and he was on one knee and he'd -- his claws were retracted and the way she loved him was just the same as breathing, natural and easy and so, so necessary. "Yes," she said, standing up from the chair she'd so recently sat down in. Reaching for his hand, Terry cupped his in her palms and stared at Kyle with bright, happy, teary eyes. "Yes, yes -- I'll marry you, y'wonderful tree of a man." Then she tugged on his hand until he stood. "I love y'so much." "Okay, but there's a ring on the pinecone." Kyle's voice came out quiet and a little rough, deep baritone with nervousness and emotion. "A really good one. I had help. I don't want to rip the paper though." He wiggled his fingers against Terry's hands. "I love you so much." Today in XProject: September 5 - Illyana Rasputin's birthday PHASE 2 2015: Maya posts a blog and says if you are not angry, you are not awake. Matt takes Xavin school shopping, but as they’re 17 and not 7, Xavin is not that into it. 2016: Sue sends Hank a birthday card. Gabriel texts Wade to ask for help with a drunken 21st birthday celebration. Clea makes a journal entry stating that she is ready to take on the new school year. Wade texts Marie-Ange regarding Gabriel’s earlier request. Everett, Clint, Kyle, Matt, and Topaz decide to volunteer their services to the school instead of sitting around on their lazy butts, mooching off Xavier all day. Quentin makes a journal entry describing in graphic detail what he’d like to do to Phyllis Schlafly’s grave. Garrison and Rogue visit the local Labour Day Fair, where Rogue once again deals with his one track mind. 2017: 2018: 2019: 2020: Life's a Beach: At the beach, Amanda and Kurt take a moment to check in with each other. Artie and Hope A. catch up during the clam bake. 2021: 2022: 2023: Terry texts Rictor to tell him Shatterstar’s birthday this weekend. Illyana makes a journal post saying she’s enjoying being in LA even if she’s working on her birthday. Arthur asks Hope A. for help troubleshooting his psychometry. Liam experiences what first day of school is like at Xavier's with Kyle. 2024: Dixie Dead Shake: Amanda and Marie-Ange walk into Candra's estate to face down Selene; Rogue organizes a plan over group comms with Felicia, Jubes, and Jessica and they rescue the Guild hostages; Selene finally gets what she asked for; In a final showdown, Selene takes on the world and is beaten; The witch is dead, so what comes next?; Garrison and Jean finally make it back to their hotel afterwards. PHASE 1 2003: 2004: Someone hacks into Angelo’s journal and reveals how he lived on the streets years before coming to Xavier’s; Nathan and Paige are among the many to whom this doesn’t matter, and Shinobi keeps Scott from being livid. At Nathan’s suggestion, Jean-Paul and Hank tell everyone to regularly update their passwords to prevent this from happening again. Terry posts about Hurricane Charley clean-up in Florida, and Kitty goes to Jamie to keep him calm. Jamie consoles Lorna, and Jean-Paul and Scott go to Alex. One Wanda Maximoff e-mails Charles to ask for help. Paige goes to church for the first time in years and asks for help for Jono, Kitty and Jean-Paul talk about the HeliX ball and the new academic year, Nathan and Rahne talk more about Asgard, and Clarice meets (and instantly despises) her new stepfather, and Kitty sympathizes with her. Manuel and Amanda manage some cute, while Shinobi and Sarah have a serious conversation. Jean-Paul and Amanda also meet up to talk a bit about magic, while Cecilia and Nathan have a surreal talk about crises. 2005: X-Men Mission: Stalemate: It's announced that Nathan was hit by a car to prevent a panic among the students; Pete deals with the consequences of nearly killing his best friend. Upgrade: Haroun's treatment continues and the strain shows on those close to him. 2006: Crystal attempts to clear the air between her and Lorna. 2007: Amanda emails various people about her week and her return to New York; Angelo meets her at the airport and takes her home; Remy announces that her power boost was not under her control and the situation is over. Forge sends Marie the text of the new Adler prophecy; Marius is there when he realises what it means - that Marie and Kurt are siblings; Marius tells Monet and Monet tells everyone, including Amanda. Scott picks up Noriko from the airport and finds her rather the worse for wear; Noriko winds up in the infirmary and Jean discovers she's been self-medicating to control her mutation. Shiro announces he has to create a graphic novel for his class. Garrison and Marie go out for some fun. Jean is cranky after her day with Noriko and Scott cheers her up. Family Portrait: Laurie announces that her mother's sick. 2008: Yvette apologises to Elpis, Kyle and Laurie, with a mixed reception; Kyle hunts her down and they argue, eventually coming up with a solution to her anger issues; Kyle emails the team comms with a suggestion that Yvette be able to use the Danger Room for letting off steam. Marie-Ange, confused by the discussion on Kyle's journal about Rocky Horror, has a frank talk with Doug. Jan emails Clarice about whether it's okay to date Kyle. Jane invites people to a fireworks party. Jane emails Nathan and Angelo about defence training in the wake of several hairy Elpis missions. 2009: Haller and Sam talk about Sam's reasons for losing control and Sam gets the okay to go ask Scott to put him back on the team now that he's spent some time with the professor. Metastasis: While visiting a music store in the city with Jean-Paul, Scott receives a call from Charles Xavier who informs him that his old acquaintance Dr. Henry Pym got in touch asking for help and using the phrase 'new mutant threat', which has Scott and Jean-Paul agreeing to meet the man at a hotel in the city; they meet Zanne at the hotel (as well as a SHIELD team rather than Pym, currently fleeing the authorities who want to speak to him) and one of the SHIELD agents, Royce, cuts himself on a canister he finds in the fridge, which envelops his arm and makes him shoot two agents before he takes off and sends the three chasing after him; in the subway they find chaos in the wake of Royce's attacks and pursue him deeper underground to a poorly equipped lab structure; Zanne traps the metal thing that had attached itself to Royce in a freeze; when Scott links with the Professor he is informed that the metal thing has a mind and Zanne uses a retrocognitive projection to discover that the thing killed men at the lab when they took it out of its container and that Pym was involved in getting it contained again; Agent Morse of SHIELD arrives to play clean up but four mutants arrive shortly after and use pyrokinetics to kill the metal thing before the X-Men and SHIELD attack them and Morse makes some arrests; Scott posts to the x-team comm to tell them his report is in the database and that he is going to Harry's with Zanne and Jean-Paul; they get drunk and lament over SHIELD's lack of information for them, the treatment of the creature, and the fact that the thing was apparently only a copy and thus the mystery remains unsolved. Lex emails Scott asking to be hired as the self-defense teacher at Xaviers. Doreen gets Julian to help her choose a dress to wear for asking Vic out. 2010: Operation: Lie Back and Think of England: Sofia and Amanda talk to Barbara Winthrop, a despicable local gossip who worked on Bennett's campaign and reveals that several Germans worked for Bennett closely. 2011: Doug posts Google's logo commemorating Freddie Mercury's birthday. Sam posts about going on a burger run, goes on the burger run with Kyle, learning that Vanessa is missing and takes Adrienne grocery shopping. Wade catches Angel with fireworks and insists on 'supervising' her with them. 2012: Laurie complains about being at a new school. Sonatorrek: Garrison becomes more obsessed with the hunt for his serial killer and Brand continues to mess with his head. Billy Kaplan announces his arrival at the school and apologises for the storms he caused. Matt announces himself as senior president, as he and Layla are the only seniors, and celebrates the end of his grounding. 2013: Adrienne posts about a great baseball game. Adrienne and Tandy discuss the idea of college. 2014: Tandy texts Adrienne about modelling. Julian finds Angelica in the kitchen, the two enjoy frozen treats and discuss the New Mutants.
