Featured Article: Moment of Awesome - Namor/The Submariner: Namor covers Marius and Bobbi while they are under assault by creatures from another dimension. It was an instant too late for a warning. They were smaller than the thing that had called itself Samedar, but what they lacked in mass they made up for in numbers. The creatures poured from the vents in a glut of spidery arms and translucent wings, swarming and scrabbling over each other in a blind rush towards the intruders like bees responding to a wasp in their hive. They were not immune from the increase in gravity. Their wings whirred, but their flight was erratic. One launched itself unsteadily at Bobbi, keening "Queen-killers! Queen-killers!" A crimson beam struck the alien point-blank. The body struck the wall with a sound like a bug hitting a windshield, and with similar physical effect. Namor, however, did not fire. He moved. His rifle was reversed as he drove forward, smoothly settling into a ready position. Then, with a flick of disdain, he drove the butt of it into the nearest creature’s thorax. Chitin cracked. The body folded. He spun, then, and more bugs were routed. "Redundancy," he said flatly, pivoting. Another thing struck – he parried it with the side of the rifle like a trident haft, then brought it down again, harder, until it stopped moving. "And poor listeners. Intolerable." His eyes swept for chaos for more targets. "I loathe repeating myself: see to the door. Stop wasting fire on mere insects." "Well, at least he's found use for the rifle," Marius remarked as he turned to regard the door. There were no visible hinges, but this was not a problem. Finesse was for people who weren't being swarmed by extraterrestrial parasites. One thing could be said about the Nevada desert: if one were borrowing solar-charged optic blasts, few places were better. The blast peeled the door inward like warped aluminum, creating an opening just wide enough for a person to slip through. An entrance, but narrow enough their attackers would be forced into a chokepoint. "Ladies first–" Marius began to offer Bobbi when a chunk of ichor and exoskeleton slapped against the wall directly next to them. Namor appeared to be enjoying himself. "Gross," she said after the splat sound morphed into a squelch as the alien viscera slid down the wall. Bobbi made her way inside and stopped by a conveniently placed control panel, which had an even more conveniently placed sign with instructions in English hanging beside it. "Here, this can't be . . . no, it couldn't be that easy, could it?" she questioned aloud, looking around at the dozen or so pods filling the room. "Gonna try the defrost sequence, cover me, please?" she asked as her fingers went into action, following the sequence on the sheet as carefully but as quickly as possible. A shadow passed over the room as the Atlantean stepped between the last skittering insect and the corridor's narrow breach. His rifle hung in one hand now, dripping and dented. His other hand swept back his hair, streaking it through with something unidentifiable and faintly glowing. "You are both adequately covered. Offensively, defensively, and sartorially." A flash of teeth caught in the hallway light. "Try not to spoil it with gratitude." Today in XProject: October 16 PHASE 2 2015: Quentin wakes up to find Amadeus doing something strange. Jean-Paul and Xavin have a hard conversation. Several packages are delivered to Clint from Nat. Clint texts Nat about his lonely weekend plans. Clarice and Hank meet. 2016: Jean-Paul sends Topaz a text to let her know that the library’s been fixed. Maya makes a post commenting about the incident at the library and her own anger issues. Staff of Five: Clint sends an email to Matt, Topaz, Ev and Kyle regarding the staff that had been delivered to them. 2017: Topaz texts Amanda about her most recent meeting with Xavier. Clarice makes a journal entry about not being sober enough for this and NOPE. 2018: Morningstar: Sue texts XFI about her week in charge. 2019: Nica and Jean train in the Danger Room together. 2020: Jubilee posts that she thinks that her physio is a pain demon and asks Amanda if she’s got a spell for it. 2021: Maya asks Terry if she needs anything. Gabe delivers food to the med lab. Nica asks for help recharging her powers and Alison lends a hand. 2022: 2023: Operation: Behold A Red Horse: The media reports on a sudden and unexplained outbreak of violence in the Spanish city of Jaca; Kevin calls X-Force to investigate, as there are reports of sightings of a man in red armour before the violence began that seem suspicious; Felicia emails Jessica to ask for her help in the investigation; having asked Christian Kane for a contact to help with access to Jaca, Kevin winds up talking to Sonya Falsworth, head of the British SIS; in Jaca, Jubilee and Amanda discover the residents are forming into mobs and mindlessly attacking each other and when Amanda has to teleport out, she attacks Jubilee in a furious rage until Jubilee knocks her out; Emma and Topaz discover the impacted citizens no longer have functioning minds, only rage and the urge to attack and destroy; Felicia and Artie use their skills to pinpoint the identity of the armoured man; Jessica assists Wanda in identifying the symbol seen on the armour; Gabriel and Sarah work their contacts to see if anyone is connected with the attack; hacking into systems for information, Darcy and Doug discover Spain has requested the Avengers assist; Kevin and Marie-Ange go to the military hospital to ask about their missing patient, the man in red armour who was until recently paralysed from the neck down; with the Avengers on the ground in Jaca, Kevin calls for reports on the situation; Doug lets Kurt and Meggan know Amanda is in the medlab under sedation until the effect of Jaca wears off. 2024: Doug tracks down Gaia to get her mansion phone turned on and it's something of a struggle. PHASE 1 2003: Haroun posts inflammatorily on the journals about Jono's lack of control. 2004: Casa Dulce Casa: Nathan, Paige and Angelo go to LA to stop Angelo's old gang ruining a mutant housing project. Sarah reacts badly to the announcement Remy will be staying at the mansion. Amanda and Manuel go out and encounter a gang - Manuel uses his powers offensively and disturbs Amanda. Cecilia moves out of the mansion. 2005: With Malice Aforethought: The team is briefed about what's required to retrieve the two missing residents; they arrive on the day Toad is holding a 'job fair' for new recruits and the team demolishes them; Forge finishes the Neutralizer and uses it against Malice, shorting out his own powers in the process and causing an explosion; the Brotherhood flee, leaving the X-Men to bring Forge and Lorna home; Moira breaks the news to Forge that he's powerless. 2006: Forge marks the anniversary of With Malice Aforethought. Vitiation: Marius opens a mysterious parcel addressed to Hank McCoy. Jennie finally talks to Yvette, only to find the Albanian girl doesn't remember Monaco; Yvette forgives her for any wrongdoing she might have done. Nathan welcomes Medusa back from her visit home with dinner plans. Lorna suggests Angelo and herself take over as self-defence teachers. Scott and Marie both talk to Crystal about the incident with Logan, but it is unclear whether the girl has learned from the incident. Mommy Dearest Redux: On discovering Kurt's return, Amanda visits him and badgers answers out of him; Kurt is surprised (and relieved) to discover she doesn't care about Mystique. 2007: Laurie creates a furor on the comms by asking why people must drink illegally; she emails Haller asking for advice on people breaking the law; Marius emails Laurie to explain his reasons for underage drinking; Doug emails Scott suggesting someone tell Laurie the Blackbird is also illegal and Scott puts himself very firmly out of the debate; Amanda posts to x_grads asking for those who are underage to keep their illegal activities off the student comms if only for some peace and quiet. Forge returns to the site of his being held hostage by Magneto and finds it's all different. Amanda asks Crystal if she can take the bus run on Saturday, on account of her being in Germany for a wedding. Carmen Animi Vermium: Monet, Marius and Jean confront Marius St. Croix about his psychic manipulations and his presence is forced out of Monet's mind. 2008: Here Comes Tomorrow: Yvette remarks on the possible new student and on an email from the Professor detailing a new student group called the New Mutants and a camping trip the next weekend; Karolina and Nori decline the 'invitation'. Catseye is gleeful about the secret of the new student and proposes a guessing game. 2009: Coming across Julian, who has been depressed over Inez's departure, Catseye does her best to console him. Cammie stops by to see Kevin and strips nude so he can draw her. Amara emails Bishop, telling him she's mastered jerk chicken and wants to know when he's ready to try. She brings him over some jerk chicken and she admits she has a temper. When questioned about it, she changes the subject and they discuss how big New York is which prompts a tour of the Brownstone. Callie drives Fred to see Zombieland in her new Mercedes. She has trouble parallel parking and Fred lifts the car up with her inside and sets it down in place, parking it for her using his strength. Manuel draws Cammie out of her bedroom after days of sulking and takes her out. 2010: Jean and Jean-Phillipe chat in the kitchen and Jean-Phillipe asks about becoming a trainee. 2011: Amara makes a journal entry congratulating Yvette on a great job with the alternative homecoming. Terry makes a journal entry announcing her return to Xavier's. Vanessa regains consciousness for the first time but it's not the happy homecoming moment anyone hoped for. Tabby e-mails Vanessa, hoping she gets better soon. Kurt and Sarah V. talk after one of their fencing lessons together, and Kurt comes up with a suggestion that Sarah absolutely loves. Jean e-mails Adrienne and Warren about Vanessa's condition and that soon she'll be allowed visitors, giving them the first heads up, and warning them to behave while with her. Jean announces to x_journal that Vanessa can receive visitors starting tomorrow morning. Jean-Paul texts Jean to see if she's free to speak. Sam e-mails Jean to inquire about possibly visiting Vanessa, asking for her opinion on whether that's for the best right now or not. Doug e-mails Dori about WoW and her location in the game. Jean and Jean-Paul discuss Vanessa in person this time and make arrangements for tomorrow. 2012: Jean-Phillipe updates X-Corps about the goings-on in Africa. Angelo texts Amanda to tell her about Africa. Maddie posts a photo of Clint taken at Walmart. Jubilee visits Doug’s office and they have a tense conversation about him needing space. Jean-Phillipe and Angelo spend the night together. 2013: Hope finds Maddie and Topaz asleep on the couch. 2014: Tandy and Julian try on their costumes.
