Featured Article: Moment of Awesome - Logan/Wolverine: Wolverine is the best at what he does. And this time it's rescuing Laura Kinney from the clutches of Weapon X. Logan arched an eyebrow. Not his favorite kind of plan but what else was there? Kyle was right. They had to move fast and they had to move now before these Weapon X assholes decided to make off with Laura. "Fine by me. Get them nice and distracted and we'll do what we needa do. Might give us enough time to get in and out before they realize who's even come knocking at their door." Though Logan had a suspicion that if they knew another rogue Weapon X asset was on their doorstep, they'd wet themselves to get both back to their facility. The less they realized who he was and what he was doing here the better. "Let's get this show on the road," he said. The truck began to move. Madin stood in the back seat, torso out the truck's window, left hand holding the oh shit handle over the door for dear life. They curled plasma around their right hand, throwing it like a spear in an arc at the gate post the moment they were within range. It hit the road with a boom. A moment later, they sent two more bolts after it, aiming directly at the structure now that they'd sent off a warning shot. Flames crackled in dry grass where the plasma - or pieces of the gate house - had landed. They pulled themself back into the truck, resisting the urge to check the rifle they no longer carried. For just a moment, it had felt like old times, and then they were back beside Doug and it wasn't there or those people anymore. Doug detected one logistical issue with moving the vehicle back toward the gate - Kyle was still driving and supposed to be hopping out to get the guards. And letting the truck come to a stop right in the field of fire seemed like a bad idea. "Okay, Wildchild, we're gonna have to Mr. and Mrs. Smith this," he announced. Catching a smirk from the lanky feral, Doug snorted. "No, you're gonna be the one with -your- butt on -my- dick, so you don't get to make jokes," he said before Kyle could even open his mouth. "Thank fuck for bench seats," he muttered. Trying this in a bucket seat would have been worse. They had the passenger side facing the gate, which meant Kyle would have cover as he exited the door. "Okay," Doug said as he placed one hand on the wheel next to Kyle's and started sliding over the seat back. "On my mark in five, four..." He judged the rate as they closed on the gate. "Mark!" he yelled, lunging toward the driver's seat. Kyle went out the open driver's door as Doug got his leg onto the seat, rolling once, and coming up running. He could see Logan just a few steps ahead, already mixing it up, and came around the older man's side, pulling one of the guards off by his face. A handful of claws into the cheeks did a great job moving someone where you wanted - and where Kyle wanted "guard in a headlock getting his stupid throat choked out until he fell down." Logan had leapt from the truck as soon as he'd heard "mark", letting the door swing whichever way it wanted behind him. The bullets slamming into him in the few steps before he barrelled into the midst of the guards reminded him just exactly how much he hated being the healing invincible part of things. But at least he healed. He let out a low snarl as he used the full weight of his adamantium laced skeleton to deck a guard before swinging back around to sink his claws into the middle of another. One movement rolling into the next as he and Kyle weaved through the guards and put them down as fast as possible. Today in XProject: December 22nd - Meggan Szardos' birthday PHASE 2 2015: Operation: Mutant of the Seas: X-Force start to infiltrate the cruise ship, starting with Emma and Kevin S; Felicia and Gabriel make it on board; Kevin S establishes Cammie’s cover as she gets on board; Domino and Wanda come aboard as staff and smuggle in Amanda; North and Jubilee board a smaller boat in order to shadow the cruise ship. Darcy posts that Queen’s 40th anniversary of "Bohemian Rhapsody" is being released as a single. Jessica posts that she needs someone to calm her down or she is going to turn someone into paste. Gabriel texts Miles asking why anyone would want to go on a cruise ship. Marie-Ange visits the Stepford sisters to try to get them settled in - and then get them setup with identities they can live with. 2016: Jubilee posts about singing a song. Nica posts about it being vacation time. With Extreme Prejudice: A newspaper article mentions a jury declaring a cop not guilty of shooting a mutant; Alex posts about what XFI should do with the situation. Gabriel and Maya have a late-night heart to heart. 2017: 2018: X-Men Mission: Skull Island: Cyclops and Rogue fly through an unusual storm to get to the island and manage to land the Blackbird; safely on the ground, two teams go out to find the information and crash survivors and the Chinese team while one team stays to repair Blackbird, damaged in the storm; Cyclops, Dominion, Nightcrawler, Spider-Man and Xavin encounter giant bugs and the native people living on the island; Marvel Girl, Rogue, Blink, Bevatron, Wolverine and Dagger find the Chinese team battling a kaiju; back at the Blackbird, Dust and Spectrum, along with Hank, Reed and Sue, work on repairs and taking readings; at the village, Cyclops’ team finds the plane crash survivors who tell them the island is a battleground for giant monsters; Marvel Girl’s team have trouble convincing the Chinese team they are there to help as well as battling the monster; the Blackbird team is attacked by a giant carnivorous plant; Christian Kane texts Dominion to ask for help escaping a cave they’re trapped in by giant bugs; Cyclops’s team wind up fighting another kaiju; Marvel Girl’s team and the Chinese mutants battle a giant ape; the science team head to the cave and discover that the island itself is two enormous creatures battling each other by spawning giant monsters and agree it’s best to leave the island to itself; Christian departs with the survivors and the data while the X-Men take off in the Blackbird. 2019: Gabriel laments the loss of free drinks from his bartending days. Amanda leaves a birthday present for Meggan. 2020: Jubilee demands presents and food for Christmas. Jean and Gabe take a break from holiday shopping to talk about the other Jeans in other universes. 2021: Arise, X-Man: Nica emails Clarice asking if she injured Laurie by turning off the machine and if she’ll recover; Darcy releases herself from the medlab and goes to Kevin S in the middle of a panic attack about Laurie and he helps her find a safe place to go; as agreed Darcy texts Kevin S to let him know she’s arrived safely; Kevin S delivers the letters Darcy left with him, including one to Laurie, and he gives her a chance to confess what happened, which she refuses to take; Kevin S lets X-Force know about Darcy’s leave of absence. Darcy also leaves Christmas gifts for Kevin S, Maya and Topaz. 2022: Kevin S meets up with Amanda at the breakfast buffet. Kevin S makes a post to x-teams advising that the Snow Valley office is closed until the 28th and they’re in the Caribbean. North and Felicia finally start talking again, amongst other things. 2023: Alani wishes Meggan a happy birthday. Gabe laments his flight being cancelled. Amanda gives Meggan a birthday gift. A Very Guthrie Christmas: Paige shares her upcoming academic plans with Jay and Sam; Sam happily shares the news with the mansion; Sam texts Paige to offer her some New York networking; Sam messages Alani to share the news about his sister. The mansion residents are gifted cat-shaped cookies baked by the resident purple cat. Clint leaves a gift at Meggan's door for her birthday. Arthur announces that he'll be in District X to spread the holiday cheer. Darcy appreciates the adorable cookies she received. Arthur and Jessie chat at the Santa Sleep Over, but giving a gift causes Jessie to experience a memory of Arthur's. Jess finds a conscious Haller in the hallway and is soon joined by Bea. Crash Landers: A mysterious young woman appears at the mansion and surprises Alani; Topaz's arrival home has Rictor offering to let her use him for her magic to try and stop the one-person assault; the destruction alerts Illyana and Shatterstar to the intruder and their attempts to team up lead to a portalling out; in the kitchen, Doug and Kyle discover the assailant is a girl with telekinesis who starts a kitchen fire; Clint is informed of the intruder and with April, attempts to subdue her; the girl runs face first into Sharon S, whose attempts to lead Liam and Match to safety are thwarted; Namor and Jubilee, returned from a Broadway show, try grab the girl before she flees down the elevator; in the basement Artie and Rogue find the girl who finally collapses after discovering there is no Cerebro; Illyana alerts eXcalibur that the Chapel alarm is due to her teleporting in; Beatrice texts Arthur and Haller in a panic at the alarms; Garrison and Rogue attempt to interrogate the girl, who reveals herself to be Hope Summers; Shatterstar texts Liam, Match, Rictor, and Sharon S to check on them, and Haller to ask about the medbay; Topaz bemoans coming home to the mess; Darcy texts Doug asking if he's okay as the mansion's security alert has alerted her that somethings wrong; Sooraya meets with Hope S. to find out more about her and her goals; Namor finds Alani and brings her inside; Warren texts Jessica about thinking the explosions were due to his sex; Kyle alerts the mansion that the kitchen is destroyed and their personal fridges and freezers will be used to store food; Sooraya updates the teams to Hope S. Summers arrival and past. PHASE 1 2003: Jamie's parents visit for Christmas. Manuel wakes from his coma. 2004: Romani Road Trip: Wanda tells Kurt what she's found out about Amanda, and Kurt goes to Madelyn and then Nathan for advice on where to go from here. 2005: While hiding out in the lab from the war zone in his suite, Forge gets a surprise visit from Paige, who makes sure he gets some rest. Sleep is less than good, and a rather damning confession is made. Kurt and Nathan meet at Harry's and commiserate about being the sons of supervillains. Bobby goes to Lorna's suite for some advice and sympathy. He gets plenty of both, but still doesn't know what to do about the mess his relationship is in. Shortly after Forge emerges from the lab after the suite's less than civil discussion of Tommy, a still somewhat preoccupied Marius has an astonishingly untraumatic meeting with Miles in the kitchen, and also half a sandwich. Forge has a proposal for Scott regarding a possible prosthesis. Scott is uncertain, but willing to listen. Lorna plays her part in the action against Magneto. In Giving Of Ourselves: Terry prepares to record her first professional single. Alison is on hand as her producer. Tommy makes the perfectly innocent mistake of opening his door just as Rachel, on a mad dash for freedom, floats by. Rachel proceeds to be very cute; thankfully, Domino wanders by and retrieves the evil telepathic baby. Doug comes down to Scott's office with a bunch of stuff on his mind, and Scott manages to clear things up for him. Haroun's down in the Gym for a light workout when he comes across Domino in the middle of her own workout. They just can't seem to leave each other alone, things get hot, then the heavy weights and the heavy words drop and Haroun checks into Medical. This leads Alison to shriek at Nathan for not keeping Domino under control. Wanda starts to feel the affects of having the entire history of the Clan dropped into her head in one go. Or, well, she would if she was completely conscious. Nathan finds her in the midst of some late night writings and it takes a bit to shake her loose. 2006: Nathan gives Medusa her Christmas gift and she tells him Crown Prince Blackagar Boltagon wishes to talk to him about Elpis. The various Snow Valley staff members bemoan their lost Christmas plans and proceed to get very drunk instead. Students query the beaten up condition of the staff. Crystal surprises Medusa with Blackagar's secret arrival to the school to be Medusa's date at the Winter Ball and he and Nathan have that talk. Winter Ball - the students have their semi-formal ball and there's a lot of kissing. Alex and Lorna talk, rather awkwardly, and then later Alex gets drunk with Shiro and they end up making out. Angelo and Marie talk about him challenging Logan during Fight Night. 2007: Amanda and Laurie talk about the X-Men, and Laurie's issues with drinking. Angelo is gleeful about T'Challa meeting the Stepfords. V=IR: Forge and Doug arrive at the site of the Tunguska Event and realise it's just another part of the puzzle, leading them to Croatia. Wanda meets T'Challa and they discover they both attended Cambridge. Rahne gets a stuffed toy haggis from Reverend Craig. Laurie, staying overnight with her father, has a nightmare and tells him about being part of the X-Men. 2008: The Wall Street Journal carries a story of Frost Enterprises winning a contract over Shaw Industries; Emma emails Nathan about the events in Wakanda. Amanda goes to Berlin to meet Wanda's contact, only to find it's Kurt and Meggan, come to kidnap her to the Szardos Clan for the holidays; later, Amanda gives Meggan her birthday present and they talk about Pete. Jennie makes Christmas jokes from Connecticut. Jean-Paul lets every one know his Christmas plans. Crystal announces her mutant concert plans. Julian has a training session with Nathan. Ktenology 101: Marie and Christian Kane zero in on their target and confirm he's associated with the Brotherhood. 2009: Yvette wishes Meggan a happy birthday. This Devil's Workday: Adrienne phones Garrison to chat about their trip to Australia for Christmas and finds out that Cammie never returned to New York as she believed; she leaves a message for Bishop asking him to use his Snow Valley connections to help search for Cammie; thinking some of Cammie's biker connections might know where she is, Adrienne visits a biker bar and breaks her nose when she mouths off to a biker; using intel from Mark's Silver network, the X-Men rescue Cammie from Brewster House. Jubilee posts about hiding presents around Snow Valley for the Junior Trenchcoats. 2010: Yvette suggests an ice skating outing to the students. Kurt wishes Meggan a happy 18th birthday and Amanda gives her a pendant. 2011: Amanda emails Kurt, Korvus and Meggan reminding them about Meggan's birthday dinner. Scott and Haller chat over comms duty. Terry emails Bobby about Christmas plans. 2012: Operation: Poisoned Honey: After their various investigations, X-Force come together to discuss their findings. Jubilee makes a journal entry about surviving the so-called end of the world. Haller announces his and Betsy’s absence spending winter break in Indonesia. Sarah V. tries to get caffeinated before confronting the mall, and Angel gives her a little caffeine-flavored push. An over-caffeinated Sarah makes a frantic journal entry about her newfound love for Red Bull. Maddie shares a YouTube video from her flight back home. Amanda sends Meggan an Amazon package of both the Harry Potter movie and book sets for her birthday. Tandy seeks out Topaz to ask for a favour. Clint nearly runs Topaz over in his rush to get back to his suite, but he pauses long enough to make a vague offering of friendship. 2013: Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart - Amanda goes to talk to Megan about what happened, and they discuss her joining magic class. Laurie emails Doug about their kiss, questioning if she pushed boundaries. Sooraya visits Angel in the med lab, and the two discuss her plans as far as school next semester. 2014: Marie-Ange takes Arthur shopping for clothes. Wanda and Jennie hold an undergrad seminar on probability mechanics for Arthur.
