About

Karen "Frito" Lawrence is currently an active player of X-Project. She began playing Marie-Ange Colbert in May of 2003, and Kyle Gibney in October of 2004. She currently acts as one of the admins for the Xproject wiki, and is currently a mod. She also hosts and maintains the webpage and is generally responsible for dealing with the technical end of any of the webpage-y things for the game.

A former resident of Baltimore and the Washington DC Area, she now lives in Escondido, CA (a bit north of San Diego) - she hates snow and shoes, and loves seafood, tea and math. She lives with Twiller and their son "Typechip", born in February 2014, and has a truly astounding number of stuffed animals for someone who is in her thirties.

She also claims to be 1/4 allosarus.

July 16 PHASE 2 2015: Patent Pending: Miles goes to visit his Uncle Aaron, and is shocked to discover that Aaron is Prowler; Warren gets an earful from Adrienne about his extracurricular activities; Miles confronts his uncle, and it turns into a fight. Sooraya posts asking for donations and volunteers to get school supplies for District X. Alison posts wondering about a good place to watch fireflies. 2016: 2017: Angelo shares some good news with Amanda. Tandy can’t seem to stop watching Moana. Quentin poses in the nude for Marie-Ange to sketch. 2018: Sins of the Father: Amanda asks X-Force for help researching her past for connections to Adam Destine. 2019: 2020: 2021: America runs into Topaz and is instantly smitten; Doug happens by and is amused. 2022: 2023: Haller invites Sooraya out to dinner to celebrate her test results and as an early birthday treat. Gabriel is practicing at the shooting range and winds up getting advice - and questions - from Amanda. 2024: Catching Maya on her way back to the hospital where she has been watching over her boyfriend, Sooraya makes her stop long enough to eat. Madin looks for Sharon to try and make amends for their last altercation and finds her in Liam’s bed in big cat form with Shatterstar watching over them - things do not go well and Liam kicks Madin out. Hope A and Shatterstar forgo their normal game night to talk about the health of the resident feline ferals, among other less pleasant questions. PHASE 1 2003: Alison arranges for Lorna and Marie to train hand to hand together. 2004: Manuel and Nathan discuss Kwannon. Dr. Stephen Strange and Moira meet and discuss Amanda's training. Pete talks to Illyana about Limbo and her facade of being normal. Amanda warns Piotr about what Limbo might have done to Illyana. Shiro and Jean-Paul have a flying race. Strange contacts Charles Xavier about examining Illyana. Amanda tells Manuel she's not pregnant. Shiro's cousin Mariko invites him to visit her in Japan. 2005: X-Men Mission: A Mirror Darkly: The team go out to Chad to deal with the mutant training camps. Jean lures Scott away from the comms for lunch, complete with introspection and teasing. Half a world away, after the confrontation with Gideon Faraday, Saul Morrow receives a phone call. 2006: Julio wakes up with Rachel on his chest, and is somewhat unfazed. Later he goes for a run and meets Laurie, and she teaches him archery. Crystal visits home and is picked up by her sister, Medusa. Cain and Rogue have a Danger Room session where they find out just how strong she is. Search and Rescue: Some shady operatives kidnap Alex in Hawaii and transport him to New York. 2007: Yvette finds a letter to Kurt from Michael Wahler and they discuss it, and various other things. Lorna finds a potential new place to live. Great Rift: In the Tanzanian highlands, Ororo and the Elpis team arrive at their destination, a local village, and meet with T'Challa. Scott convinces Pietro to come back to the school and Pietro is immediately summoned for Tea. Amanda returns and immediately plots a break for Wanda with Mark. Sound of Silence: More than a year has passed in Attilan, and Forge is frustrated with the peace and calm of the marooned island nation. Marie contacts Scott and Ororo about teaching a psychology class. 2008: Third Strike: Nathan announces to the team that Kurt has been found and there is a possible security leak, given Zanne being identified as an X-Man despite not having been in the field. Nathan meets Callisto and they talk about making a difference. 2009: An insomniac Lex meets Forge in the garage and finds out more about the X-Men, including who to talk to about joining. Jeanne-Marie tries to comfort Jean-Paul after another of his nightmares. Mutation Sternutation: Fred lets people know Julian is out of electronic contact due to having Jean-Phillipe's powers; Kevin talks to Callie about being untouchable; Callie and Julian finally make up after the coma incident; Amara seeks out Julian, needing advice on handling his telekinesis. Lex emails Scott about the X-Men. Jane and Catseye have a naked conversation about names in the woods. Lil is unhappy at someone touching her motorbike and Lex confesses. Nathan talks to Kevin about staying on at the mansion. Jake meets Bishop and gets news about Cammie's criminal record; Jake emails Cammie, letting her know it might be possible for her to clear things and go legit. Morgan and Sam break up over Sam's self-consciousness about how people view him as too weak for her; Sam turns up at the brownstone, challenging people to fight and Wanda and North are amused and confused; Jubilee and Sofia both mention the ruckus; Jubilee texts Morgan about Sam being her boyfriend; Jay emails Sam about the commotion. Lex talks to Scott about joining the team and gets all he needs. Sarah is jubilant for by-passing military grade shielding. Nathan watches movies with an insomniac Jean-Paul and they agree to go on another trip sometime. Laurie emails Scott about coming off team hiatus once the power swap settles down. Angelo gets a new nickname from Fred and suggests that he try Elpis for a job. 2010: 2011: Laurie posts about music choice for the road trip. Meggan has a bad dream and Molly suggests a Night Owl Breakfast (among other things) to help and they wind up talking about the future of their roomie-ness and Meggan possibly joining the team. 2012: Scott shows Angelo the new X-Corps offices and they talk about the school and planes. David North and Adrienne spar at the Brownstone's gym. 2013: Sue texts Tandy about Maddie showing up at work and getting in trouble with security. 2014: Doug posts a link and threatens to fly to the West Coast Annex to punch Forge on the nose. Topaz helps Sue pack and the girls discuss college and the future.

Moment of Awesome - Monica Rambeau/Spectrum: Having discovered a dangerously high level of gamma radiation at the grave of a dead mutant, Monica calls on some help to disperse it. "You know, I was rather hoping to avoid the cemetery. It seems a bit on the nose after the whole Death thing-- ah, there she is." Marius spotted Nica at the cemetery gates and gave the young woman a wave. "Hello. We were summoned?" Rogue had to agree with Marius but because their friendship seemed to be built on making the other uncomfortable, she was partly amused as well. This entire mission seemed so strange already, and it was just getting weirder. Although, truly who was she to judge? "You got us here, to do whatever it is you need to do. Is it just us?" "Thanks for coming." Nica gave the two other X-Men a smile. "I'm sorry to drag you here, but we have a bit of a gamma radiation problem, and I wasn't sure that I could handle it on my own. Or at all, to be honest." Marius nodded. "We live to serve. I take it the problem is severe?" "Enough that it needs to be cleaned up before it contaminates the area. Or makes someone really sick. But..." And here Nica blushed a little. "Gamma isn't part of my usual range, mostly because I've never really encountered it before. So I thought maybe you guys could help?" "Yeah, that makes sense. Not much can really hurt li'l ol' me, so you just let me know where I gotta stand to help you out. Is Marius just being a mutant divining rod and I'm the spirit it speaks through then?" The Australian gave his chin a thoughtful stroke. "I'm no better acquainted with gamma than the next person," he said, "and no doubt considerably worse at conversion than either of you, but perhaps this could be turned to our advantage. Given my natural predilection towards passive absorption, if gamma is within Nica's capabilities to process I am almost certainly doing so already. What if I were to attempt to emit, say, infrared without making any particular effort towards refinement?" He flicked his gaze back to Nica. "You said if I don't focus my efforts I throw everything I've got. If I project an otherwise known quantity, would the two of you then be able to pick out the unfamiliar?" "See, this is why I asked for you. You know how to put this into words." Nica gave Marius a half-smile. "I mean, technically gamma's possible, since I channel the EM field. So, how do we do this? Marie? You need to touch me to get my powers, right?" Rogue nodded, almost apologetically. "I'll have to hold on longer than I'd like, kiddo. And it might knock you out for a li'l bit too, so I can start on one end of this here graveyard, and y'all can go to the other side to rest and relax. Marius here can be a bit of a babysitter as well, if need be. You just gotta clear your mind as best as possible, but I apologize in advance if I take out any memories, or feelings while I'm doing it. I don't try to do that, and I've gotten real good at compartmentalizing, and ignoring what I don't need. You just let me know when you're okay with this and we can start." Nica nodded, face a little pale but expression determined as she held out her bare hand for Rogue to take. "We're looking at absorbing the gamma and converting it to something else on the EM spectrum that's, you know, less radioactive. Think happy sunbeams or radio waves or something," she instructed the pair of them. "Let's do this?" "At your discretion, ladies," replied Marius, though he couldn't resist watching as the younger woman extended her hand to Rogue. He'd gone through great efforts to render borrowing mutations as clinical as possible, at least insofar as it affected his teammates. Even without the involvement of his natural extraction mechanisms Rogue's powers were far more elegant. Fewer sharp objects, for a start. But then, it was more than physical vulnerability that the woman's powers left you open to. It never did get easier, and in a way, Rogue hated doing repeat sessions. She would never admit this, but the more she took from someone, the more fleshed out the shadow in her head became. This wasn't the first time she'd absorbed Nica, and because her initial absorption was so long ago, her powers seemed to want to fill in the blanks. The memories of Nica's mother dying .... being on the team ... filling in for leaders. ...missions ... experiences ... it was a lot and it took more than she wanted. Rogue tried to let go, and she realized in horror that it wasn't as easy as she thought. It literally took all her mental fortitude to do so, and she was surprised that Nica wasn't passed out -- Rogue definitely felt like doing so. As Rogue let go of her hand Nica swayed on her feet. "Woah, headrush," she muttered, before taking a couple of wobbly steps and sitting on a park bench - there were plenty of those left out for mourners and visitors. "I'll be okay inna minute."
